I just got off the phone from a pretty lengthy conversation with the specialists from Crutchfield.com.

I was told that we're basically out of luck if we have a Bose HU and Navigation. The reason why is that the navigation connects to the Bose HU via a 14-pin connector. And without being connected to the Bose HU, it lacks ANY functionality.

However, at the same time, I was also told that it's possible to replace the factory subwoofer from behind the driver seat and replace it with a 10" woofer and to also replace the Bose amp. That's what I'm all about!

Ok now that I've been searching and reading around my350z.com, it seems many say that it's possible except that you'll lose the voice unless you somehow wire in an auxilary speaker. However, Crutchfield.com claims that you lose FULL functionality.

Can anyone confirm? If I lose voice, then so be it, I just don't want to lose my $2000 navigation!! Thanks!

I had a completely custom system installed in my Z (it has the navigation system in it, as well)... the nav system still works fine, gives me popup directions / turns, etc... but you will lose the chick yelling at you when you miss a turn... damn, i miss her too

sorry to hijack, but this is a bit along the same idea...

are there any aftermarket DVD units or full computers that can take the place of the OEM unit so I can watch normal DVDs on the OEM display? Is there any software player that will then allow me to load the Navigation DVDs and run them? I imagine that the Nav DVDs are specially encoded for the OEM player. I have tried a normal dvd with no luck, so looks like i'm going to have to swap it out... any compatibility problems with the display?

thanks!
