Just completed a simple install in a G35 sedan for one of our forum members.
The goals of the install were:
1. conserve as much trunk space possible while maintaining the use of hte spare tire
2. clean sound quality
3. full Video playback ability for all occupants.
so...lets get started
The source unit of the system is a new Pioneer Avic-Z1 headunit, using the double din dash conversion, and drilling a few new holes, i managed to flush mount the unit in the dash. Also note the DLS sub bass controller mounted in the ashtray location to provide stealthy yet easy access.

A set of DLS Ultimate UP6 components makes up the front stage, the midbass is sealed in the stock lower door location, while the tweeters are flushed into the kick panels as those are my favorite spot...again, imaging was eye level, not low down by the feet
A set of DLS 426 coaxials occupy the rear door. All brand new speaker wiring was ran into all the doors, no reuse of stock wiring here

For upfront video display, a pair of my own replacement sun visors with 8" widescreen LCDs were used. I reupholstered them in grey suede to provide a more classy and clean look:

For the back seat, a set of my own replacement headrests with 8" LCDs are used:

As an alternate video source, a PS2 is mounted in the upper glovebox, though a tight fit, we can insert and remove discs with no problem

now here are some pics of the video components turned on, each screen is capable of playing either video source...etc

Moving on to the trunk, to me, hte best way to install a sub an amp in a G taht satisfy the condition of keeping the spare trunk and saving as much space as possible is a side box, similar to a 4080 box. I essentially extended it to include an amp rack as well. I took a mold of the back of a 4080 box, and then added it to a MDF amp rack...A DLS reference RA50 5 channel amp is mounting upfront powering the entire system, and a DLS 12" subwoofer resides in the back. overall, virtually no additional usable trunk space was lost compraed to just a 4080 box

sounds pretty good i may add
thanks for 4080 for building such a nice box for me to mold off of, and el duderino for providing the DLS components

the Z1 apparently, all you have to do is ground the parking brake wire to make it play dvds while driving, you just have to click okay on the warning menu that pops up...i dont know for sure, maybe my customer can chime in

he supplied the headunit, the speakres, the sub, and the amp
the rest:
fiberglas side box/amp rack
two visors, reupholstered in suede
two headrests
installation of everything, including running all new wires into all the doors
steering wheel control
power inverter
all the wiring etc...
came out to be a bit below 2k total

Very nice work as always! Extremely clean. I always love seeing pictures of your installs. And I must admit, labor seems to have been very reasonable for a project this size.
I am not a fan of the sub box. Everything else in the system turned out great. Maybe it is because it is a stealth box design with vinyl in a carpet trunk. I love the way the Visors turned out and the how you were able to get the screen flush.

truth be told, my upholstery supplier was out of dark trunk liner
we looked at everything and this materials worked okay, it doesnt mean it may not get reupholstered in trunk liner when they get some more in

Yeah I am not trying to be a *** or anything. I am just a very picky person when it comes to installation so I like to give constructive critisim just like I would want when I post pictures on here. But yeah I agree dark trunk liner would look alot better than the black vinyl

Bing did all this to my car!!!
The system sounds great. I'm a huge DLS fan now. The moment he started up the system, I could tell the difference between the DLS and from stock. HUGE HUGE difference.
As for the Z-1, I can't program the nav while driving. I don't know what the hack is yet. But other than that, everything is awesome. People compliment it like crazy. The sub box looks great in person.
Thanks for all your time Bing.

good to hear tony
it was an effort for sure with all the wiring and the side fiberglass box, but i think it turned out well in the end.
i will be keeping an eye out for the z1 hack, cuase i will be facing the same issue in my car most likely

oh, can you please comment on where the sound seems to be coming from in your car even though the sail panel tweeter is NOT hooked up and the DLS tweeter is way down in the kicks?
:P

Hahaha...
The stock tweeters are not hooked up. The DLS tweeters are in the kicks as you can see in the pictures. Just so you can't say I'm being biased, I had 5 people in my car since Saturday, and none of them noticed the sound coming from their feet.
They have only said nice things about the sound. The sound stage is perfect, right at eye level. It sounds awesome. If anyone wants to listen, just give me a call or leave a message.
