speaker project /day 1-2 running wires
Going to upgrade from the blose system putting in all new pioneer products sub speakers two amps i will keep you guys updated as the install goes on. This first week will be hell due to the hardest part of the install running speaker wire 12 gauge from door to inside of Z. The first few pics is of the 0 gauge power wire I ran this is pretty easy I forgot to include pics of where the wire came into the car. But if you take off the plastic panel's around the battery area you will see a large bubble looking rubber gromet with wires going down. If you poke the bubble it flexes easy. I cut a slit there and ran the wire down there is plenty of space you could prob fit two 0 gauge wire easy maybe three maybe.

The 0 gauge wire runs along the door and fits under the carpet with some extra space I will put one of the two amps under the seat. I ran the wire to that spot an cut a slit in the carpet. The other end is zip tied right now in the battery compartment will be hooked up later.

This is prob the hardest part of the install running new wire from the door to inside the car i read some other forums to get ready for this. I posted some more detailed pics that were needed that show where i drilled a hole in the molex i guess that's what its called. and how i ran the wire. Take your time on this part I took a good 3 hours you don't want to mess up the connectors I have heard very bad things that happened to other people like windows don't work mirrors even the trunk release. I heard using a solder to make the hole made it easy. And yes this is prob the best method but take your time only touch the solder to the connector for seconds then wait a little while waiting wipe any melted plastic off the solder on a wet sponge so you don't reinsert it into the connector. The wire I used is 12 gauge speaker wire it looks huge compared to the connectors. Be very careful with the solder try to stay away as far as possible from the pins inside. The spot i picked is prob the most common spot other people picked and when connected the male and female side the wire lines up perfect and does not get bent inside.

That gray lock tab thing you see is very important when putting everything back the position its in is the exact position you want it to be in when inserting if not you will take longer to connect both male and female connectors. When everything was finished I first inserted the male connector into its location which is inside the car this clips to the square hole you see in the above pic. next I align the female connector to the male which is the outside connector in between the door a method that helps is closing the door a little bit so you can line up the connector straight. While aligning careful not to open the door all the way as it will push the connector in between the door and could crack it or bend the pins inside the male connector. Make sure make sure when aligning the connectors be sure the speaker wire is straight and not twisted if twisted it will bend the pins inside the male connector. The hole i made in the female connector was just big enough for the speaker wire to fit and tight enough so that when aligned with the male connector all I had to do was pull the speaker wire from inside the car which pulled the female connector to the male while still keeping the wire straight while at the same time making sure the gray plastic lock tab is in the position as described above. now both connectors will unite but not all the away the gray lock tab will do the rest it will simply snap/lock into place uniting both connectors. If it feels like the gray lock tab is not uniting the connectors and its requiring more force then the connectors are prob not fully united. press on both sides of the connectors an try again.

For the wire fishing through the rubber boot i used some thin ground wire its very flexible an can take shape any way you want it to. I fished it from inside the door out towards the boot the taped the speaker wire and pulled it back through.
