Holy crap, that's awesome! Forgot about this thread until this morning... great work, man!

John, can't wait to see it in action in your car. If you need any help with the install, hit me up; I've got a little experience with the start button mod.

Subscribing just in case you start selling these.......

Would the starter for the M work as well? The led's in it appear to match the amber of our cars......

From what I can tell from the pics alone, the Infiniti M-series engine start/stop button is identical (looks wise) to the Altima button except for, as you said, the function/word and button backlighting color; I'll look into this if I make anymore. Thanks for the suggestion.

Greg I know you said something in the earlier posts about the Altima keyless ignition but do you happen to know what all is needed to build the system and implement it into the Z?

Can we buy the parts needed from a Nissan dealer and install them on our cars?

All I ever said was in response to similar requests to have the Altima setup in the Z and that was this:

Could it be done? Probably but I don't know what's involved and I'm not going to spend any time trying to find out.

This project is nothing more than a step beyond using the Honda S2K start button because this is a genuine Nissan part that not only starts but also stops the engine.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for not just going through your previous posts

I need to get my hands on an Altima service manual and see what's going on with that system!

I wish the S2K button was as small as the new Nissan one that you have installed--the S2K one is a beast!

Regardless of if you use the Altima or M version......if you get it to glow amber....I'm buying!

Enough people have shown interest that I'm going to have to get off my **s and make a few for sale; waiting to hear from USN HM 350Z and his install for comments, criticisms, etc.

Damn, I wanted to see this in person. I live in McKinney too (probably down the street from you along with a few other members on here).

USN -- any install pics / thoughts yet?

not yet, been really busy at work and such and I might be selling the car really soon at that.

Thoughts so far are that this is a well put together kit, with great install instructions (DVD).

If I have the time this weekend I will do the install.

The keyless pushbutton start systems are extremely complicated, not something you can just add to an existing car. They work by placing recievers all over the car (both doors, center console, and near the trunk). The recievers then detect the presence of a small transmitter that is in the key. Based on what sensors pick up on the signal the system can locate the key, and if it is near the drivers seat then it will allow the pushbutton to work. I'm guessing that the recievers send an 'OK' signal to the ECU through the CAN bus.

You would have to problably swap out all the electronics in the car with an Altimas electronics (or a G35 that has push button, as at least the electronics will be similar).

Great work on the integration. If you need any help customizing the system (simplifing, automating, etc) let me know, I could pop out a custom circuit board that would integrate much easier and eliminate the need for the relay board. You could also eliminate rewiring the LEDs on the switch, and get the ACC LED working right by running everything through a microcontroller.

KPierson,
Thanks for the offer. Yeah, this was a low-tech analog approach for sure but hey, it does the job. I will address the ACC led issue by adding a logic gate if I make more and keep the existing relay board; I'll PM you later for advice/help/etc.
