No. No one else has integrated a push start/push stop button before. All the ones until now have been push start only.

I'm working on revisions to simplify operation and to reduce the number of components needed. This will aid in cutting down the time and labor required to put these together. I'm going to put together two kits in the next week or so. I'll post pics as I progress. I have not decided as of yet what the pricing will be on the two kits; this is mainly an exercise to see amount of labor involved and to judge demand.

I am hopefully picking up two 'start/stop' buttons from my local dealership today to give this a shot. I got them for a little under $30 a piece.

I'm sure they could work on the G35 but I would have to research the Infiniti FSM for location of the BCM for specific hook-up points; I'm not familiar with the interior of the G's so I don't know what would be considered a good place to mount the button assy or the control box.

What is the value of the resistor you are base-biasing the transistor with?

I'm not using any switching transistors, just the relays that come with the relay kit.

Subscribing to keep an eye on a cool idea!

Although I had one question, what if your engine is modified and it takes a little longer to crank or has a hard time cranking. Does the alternator keep cranking, even though you pressed and released the button once? Or does it stop once you stop holding the button, similar to a key?

With this setup the starter will crank as long as you hold the button down, just like it only cranks when you hold the key in the 'crank' position.

Congrats on the new job and good luck, Greg.

in the new G35 i had for a loaner, i didn't have to hold the button down. i just pushed it and it went through the lights and started itself.
so you're saying that this set up you have to hold it down to manually crank?

Yes, you have to manually push the button down and hold it until the engine starts.

The OEM systems are completely integrated in to the car. This 'add on' system is not integrated in to anything but the starter wire. While it would be possible to have it completely start the car you would add complexity to the control circuit (engine montoring would be requird) and to the installation.

Default About the M35/45 button

Called the local Infiniti dealer and a guy in the parts dept claimed that the M35/M45 engine start/stop button comes with a lock cylinder assembly (not just the button itself like the Altima) and lists for over $200.00; needless to say, that's not a viable option but nothing a simple LED change wouldn't cure......
