Default Extinguisher fitted...

Today I had an alluminium bracket fitted into my Zed that holds the fire extinguisher. I had it fitted on the ground, right behind the passanger seat where the extinguisher sits close to the center console. It is literally out of sight (unless you point it out to someone), my passanger seat can still slide all the way back, and if needed I can reach it from the driver's seat.

It took a couple of hours to make/fit and looks very proffesional ... I'm now pretty much ready for any CAMS events :-)

It cost me $150 (fitted) and I provided my own extinguisher. Though, if anyone wants/needs one then they can make the same thing for around $100 so let me know and I'll give you the contact details.

ps. The bracket is mouunted to the rear-bolts of the passanger seat and therefore is removable without any damage to the car.

I'd like to see it as well. I've always fitted extinguishers to my cars.

I'd like to see a pic also. Sounds like the best location. I've seen brackets for Porsches that mount to the front seat track bolts. And I refuse to mount it on the "A" pillar. Curious to see if it would work an LHD Z.

I'll take some pics next week. Though, I don't think that I can post them here. So I'll let you know when I have some and then you can PM me your e-mail address and I'll send them there.

How thick is the aluminum?

1.6mm.

What is the height of the "step"?

Less than 1" (ie. 2 - 2.5cm). The following pic shows the 'step' pretty well and you can see the size/height relation to the both that holds the seat to the floor.

Is there something to it that I'm not seeing? A flat piece of alu with two 90deg bends and holes for the seat bolts? $150? Seems a bit much to me.

Yes, you're right - 1.6mm ... my misstype. I'll fix the post that mentions it.

I'm sure that they can make it from whatever you want. They can even paint it for you if you wanted. I wanted it from alluminium and that, as far as I know, is always shiny. My S2000 bracket was shiny as well.

That's right, not much to it ... the only irregular part is the angled cut to make it fit the back wall (which get's closer to it towards the door). If you bought it from someone who manufactures these things then it should be maybe $40. That is how much it cost me for the S2000 and it would cost for the WRX. Difference is that this one a one off, 1st time ever so they had to measure it, cut it, fit it, do it again etc, just to get it right. I'd much rather pay $40, but I'm not aware of anyone who has done this before so I copped the $150 fee (ie. 2 hours of labor + GST).

They told me that they'd make another one for around $100 (ie. now that they know what is involved). I'd guess that if someone asked them to make (let's say) 10 in one go, then they would be happy to make them all for ~$500. Though, I did not talk to them about anything like that as I really just wanted one for myself and that's all .... I'm just guessing.
