Default New Brakes

After eating through brake pads on my Touring, I'm interested in doing a brake upgrade.

I would love to get a set of Track Brembos, but they're hard to come by. Nissan, being the bunch of annoying gits that they are, have basically told me that they're not interested in selling them to me.

So, that might mean going aftermarket. I'm just wondering if people have any recommendations? I want front and rear brakes, and I'd like them to fit under 17" rims.

If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

I was looking at getting DBA rotors, but I want calipers as well.

Minimum 4 pot, but more if possible.

Another possibility is for you to wait until some one upgrades their bremobos to some other brake kit, then you might be able to pick up a set reltively cheap from the private classifieds.

That was my other plan, since I can't afford to replace my brakes yet.

All brake kits are very expensive they are around the US$4500 mark (StopTech price). Also you'd be hard pressed to find someone selling their brembos as they are a hot comodity on this forum.

As big brake kits dont decrease your everyday driving stopping distance its hard to justify the huge cost, especially when there are some mods that you can do to your stock setup to help it perform better under sustained loads like track days or hard driving. (Most info here is gained from members of this forum.)

Hi Temp brake fluid - to prevent your brake fluid from boiling and filling the lines with air bubbles stopping you from stopping.

Better Brake Pads - so they dont melt and deform your rotors after one track session.

Slotted Rotors - Clear brake dust, stop possible pressure build up and help the brake pad wear flatter.

DBA Kangaroo Paw Rotors - For better cooling.

Cyro treat Rotors - To increase their life by up to 2-300%.

Paint Calipers - To look better.

Speak to AP or Brembo ... they make brake 'kits' for practically any car. Though, be prepared to pay a fair bit for it as if you want something that is at least as good as the Track's Brembos, then you're looking for good $3k for a pair (ie. just the front).

ps. I was at 'Race Brakes' todays and inquired aboout a 'brake upgrade' for a CV8-R. It's $6k for 330mm disks at at the front and 310mm at the rear with 6-piston calipers at the front and 4-pot at the rear.

I'm trying to get Ferodo DS2500s at the moment, and when the rotors wear out I'll get slotted DBA items.

Its not one-time stopping I'm interested in. Its

I'll test it out - if it works then I'll stick with the standard package.

Also, when I get the stuff made by BSM, I'll post the information in this forum (as there are a few Touring owners)

Yes, it looks like it.

Its not one-time stopping I'm interested in. Its being able to repeatedly stop when I'm on the track (or even street), and having the pads last longer.

Yeah then for the track minimum you need pads which your looking at and the high temp brake fluid.
