Watkins Glen with CarGuys 7/4 & 5
I just returned from the Glen, and I was blown away by this awesome track!
Nothing like entering the esses at WOT in 5th gear!
I never drove on a track where I could hit 6th gear before!
I need to thank zillinois's wife for preparing fantastic lunches both days. I really appreciate all the effort she put into feeding the track junkies!
Glad to read John's engine noise might be only an AC belt...my fingers are crossed.
I'm already formulating plans to return, but NOT with CarGuys.

Well, James, trust me, if I could, I would!
This event took 3 months of planning. Other than ME missing the exit for the starting meet place, all went very smoothly.
Let me know how it goes. Also, let me know when they have definite dates for next year.
Oh, have a blast!

Despite the personality issues and lack of organization on the part of CG, Mon / Tues were a lot of fun. Nice to meet some new faces from the Chicago Z area!
The track itself is a bit bumpier than I remember it, especially in the long T5 sweeper. The concrete patches remind me of the surface at Summit Point. Much to my surprise, much of the armco has been pushed back, and a lot of other changes have been made to comply with IRL standards.
For those of you that were there, I made it home without any incident, and the tapping has vanished. It looks like my nasty misshift going into the busstop only shredded my A/C belt, which could have been the tapping culprit. Anyone else had problems throwing their A/C belt? This is the second time I've shredded it, and I just had it replaced two months ago.

John, very happy to hear your engine problem was minimal.
As to CG, I'm glad I was in the white group, even though ALL the other flatlanders are faster drivers. Putting BFJ in green was a joke.
Adding insult to injury, his instructor had never been to the Glen!
BUT......we ALL had a great time! And John, thank you for giving me a lot of advice....GAG GAS GAS!!! & For taking Lori for the ride of her life!
As to the Armco, the only place I didn't like it was at T15, exiting the boot. But I sure DID like how it amplified my exhaust sound!

I'll post a few teaser pics here before I post up a review.

And he got black flagged and kicked out for his excessively loud exhaust............
Some people can't comprehend that driver skill does more for low lap times than HP.
Great pics....
From the WHITE group guy!
Any more pics Geoff? You definitely get the most creative spoiler award, as I haven't seen such an original "OEM" replacement ever.
While don't quote me on this, I overheard that Jack never wrote down his track experience on his application, and since it was left blank, he was put in the green group. Again, it came down to personality issues, and Aryan is well Aryan. He won't budge. But in the end, everything worked out, and I think everybody got plenty of fast track time.
The one thing I regret most is not getting some more seat time in the Unitech / Truechoice suspension Zs (Bruce & Jack)... that was one of my goals this weekend that fell to the wayside since I was too busy with students.
BTW: Got the final knick-nads for the diff install, so the ATS bring bring unit goes in on Mon/Tues. I'm hoping to give it a round-about at Summit the following weekend.

Hey gents,
Good to hear you guys had fun and made it back in one piece!
John, glad your valves are alive and breathing properly!
Hopefully the Unitech setup served you guys well despite the rushed install/prep and lack of setup and tuning time.
