Watkins Glen with CarGuys 7/4 & 5
A few of us flatlanders are planning a trip east this summer to attack this beautiful Finger Lakes Road Course! This sounds like a well run event, so it's high on our list. Is anyone else planning on attending?
I'll personally guarantee NO SNOW!

James and I ran with CarGuys up at the Glen two years ago... having worked with this organization in the past, I can assure you that your dollar goes towards a ton of track time (4+ hours over the weekend).
I have taken time off work to attend this event. Jack, Geoff, & Brian are also committed to be there. Who else?
A friend just told me that "Little Feat" will be performing at Nelson Ledges (about an hour SE of Cleveland)on July 1. So I'm thinking of a little R&R to begin my 1st vacation of the year.

Just a bump to see if anybody else is planning on tracking at a classic F1 track. Anyone recommend a good hotel?
Also....They are using the FULL track, including the Boot! Not the NASCAR track.

I'm going to see the CarGuys people this weekend and I'm going to inquire about instructing. I have a feeling they don't need any additional instructors, but we'll see and I'll make my final decision whether or not I'm going to go. Besides you Bruce, who else is definitely going?
I'll be attending this one as well. I'm pretty sure Jack will be attending as will Redfoot (Brian). We are starting a little caravan from the Chicago area.

Well, Geoff beat me to it, but, yes, "Black Flag Jack" is a definite(can you say 293 NA RWHP?), as are Brian, Geoff & moi. I called Car Guys today, and they got my money, so I'm a firm definite!
I would love to have you show me THE line as an instructor John!
In my SCCA school 100 years ago, we only ran the short course.
If not as an instructor, I'd like to see if you can keep up with the 3 fast flatlanders!
They're all on R compounds, I only have the sissy new RT-615's.
Sooooooooooo, join the fun anyways!
BTW, this is now officially the "BCR Harness Bar Right Coast Tour"!
BUT, all others are welcome to join the fun!

LOL, who is Black Flag Jack?
Redfoot, I definitely want to check out the Unitech suspension... I'm quite envious of your intended purchase. In fact, I'm envious of Zillinois and your car, since you both have the rear end I always wanted (but never could justify the cost). Damn DC real estate...
Edit: What groups are you all registered for? I will give you forewarning that if some of the typical CarGuys marque crowd is there, there will be a lot of very fast cars.

I don't remember what group I signed up for, I'll guess novice.
As to Black Flag Jack, it's a secret!
I have a HUGE video with him sporting a helmet mounted camera (with Geoff's help) from the Autobahn Country club of his driving skills......he passed me and a Ferrari I was passing.
He was an IMSA pro driver.
PM me your e-mail address, and I can send you the video. As to his nick name.....he was/is a racer with little patience for idiots. Oh, his exhaust is a tad on the loud side too!
BTW, a fast car does not mean fast lap times.

More news. THE hotel is The Glen Motor Inn. 607-535-2706 I reserved the Boris Said/Dick Trickle room!
They want a $100.00 check or MO in advance. Balance with a CC. The hotel is on the lake, and is where Jim Clark & Mario have stayed.
Smoking rooms are available. Get your reservations in soon.
Also, tech at the track is OK. No need for the pre-tech.

I worked for a screen printing place in Wisconsin a million years ago that was one of the sponsors of Dick Trickle's stock car team. Met him a few times at races. I don't know if you can call someone "just coming up" at 40ish, but thats about where he was careerwise.

Did you get the room with a lift? Also, what's the status of the new trailers guys?
