Mark- Thanks for the details on the opening SCCA National at Road Atlanta. Not sure if rain will help or hurt Jason's chances in the race. Will you be going to watch? Any chance you can also post what marque and model of T2 car each driver is competing with?
Thanks- David

Update from RA. Jason finished 3rd in his first national. Not bad considering it was his FiRST national and this was his FIRST race at RA ever. Weather was cloudy and misty raining with 50's for temps. Not the weather the Z needed. He needed a hot sunny day to wear down the F bodies and Caddy.
Eskind Camaro
Brannon Firebird
Henderson 350Z
Kramer Saturn
Buttermore Caddy DNF
Thanks Jason for the pass. Derek & I really enjoyed it. Nice to meet Hilary.

Hey guys...Thanks so much for the support. It was a very exciting weekend for my wife and I. Mark, glad you and your son had a great time...this guy is a trooper...drove over 100miles in the rain on Easter Sunday no less, just to watch the Z's run (couple older ones in IT class too).
A quick recap...I did the Friday test day so I knew which way to turn on the track and my times in the morning session were like 1:48s. Not good. Track record for T2 class is 1:41.9 something. SO, I had a ways to go. By the end of the test day I felt more comfortable and had my times down to 1:44s. Still not where I needed to be, but better. The next morning practice I got in the 1:43s...getting there
First qualifying session I ran the 1:42.668 with someone's hood in the exit of turn one so I knew there was more, but that was good enough for pole at the time. SO, for the 2nd qualifier, the sun was out and it was getting pretty darn warm, so I decided to save my tires and wait in the pits to see if anyone could beat my pole times. With less then 5mins remaining in qualifying, I get a call over the radio that the Caddie just did a 1:42.620. I went out and tried to put together a couple flyers, but could only get 2 x 1:42.8s. Then, when the results were finally posted, I found out one of the f-bodys qualified at a 1:42.512. Ouch. Now I'm sitting P3 for the start.
THE RACE:
Like Mark mentioned, conditions weren't the best for the Z, but I knew if I could get to the esses before the f-body's and caddie did, I could create a gap and maybe, just maybe keep them behind me after the LONG straight. Well, that plan went out the window at the start...my radio came unplugged just before the start and while waiting to hear that they dropped the green, I was passed by the f-body. I played catch up the entire race...at one point in the esses, I was able to take the lead (but only for one turn) then both f-bodys got by. I still had a 4-5 car length lead on the Caddie coming out of turn 7 onto the LONG back straight, but with his 400+HP, he blew by me like I was in reverse. The rest of the race was trying to catch the f-bodys with 2 AS (American Sedan) cars in my way. End result was 3rd place. Not bad, but not what I came there to do. If the comp board will give us a little help, I think the Z can be there at runoffs. T2 is a great class with lots of diverse cars...if you haven't been to an SCCA race to watch T2, I invite you to come out and experience it. It's a BLAST!
Thanks again for the support. Special thanks to BJ and the 350EVO team for the coaching and getting my car prepped with short notice. If you guys want to go fast in your Zs, BJ and team have the parts and know how to make the most of them, that's for sure.
Stay tuned for more T2 racing!
Drive on!

Jason,
Awesome news and great job. You're lucky to be running T2....must be great fun. When are you coming out to Cali? Let us know and I'll be there.
mpowers...I would imaging he is running the Nissan Motorsports T2 springs??

Thats what I wanted to know, but also wanted to know what his perception of the springs were. Did they help with keeping the tire flat on coners? Are they to stiff for a bumpy track? I have a set on order and just wanted to feel out what to expect.
