Repaired koni's: in transit.
Package from stoptech: in transit.
Transponder just arrived.
With the usual wrenching in the 11th hour I might actually pull things together for the weekend.

I know CRayZ is going. Anyone else planning on swinging by this weekend?

This is a crossover event with SoCal and they've got some fast guys attending, including a high hp S4 and SRT-4 that were both walking by me at buttonwillow. It's always tough to compete against the turbo cars that can up their boost and remain in the same class. Infineon isn't so much of a hp track though so I might not fare too badly.

The HPDE groups are full, but I might come by and check things out. Are you there both days?

Yes I'm there both days. It looks like there are 5 Z's on the roster.

I have one thing to add to the list of the usual track day prep issues:

-Loose rear wing - just dropped off at the body shop who installed it.
-still waiting for the fedex truck to bring the brake bits, shocks etc..

What brake bits? Are you getting the titanium backing plates or 13" rear BBK?

Hey Dave,

Be on the lookout for a Silverstone Z Roadster with black touring wheels. See you Saturday!

BTW, that S4 wouldn't happen to be black, would it?

Not this time. I'd like to get up there this fall though. Some of my friends here down south have been talking about it. Any event in particular that we should shoot for?

I left a little early on Sunday, but I was in 2nd place after the 2nd session. A 1974 600hp vette with hoosiers wider then my car finished waaay ahead of me. Sorry I didn't have too much time to chat with you guys that were there. NASA keeps us instructors very busy and work for our free burger

Jritt, you SoCal guys should come up to Laguna with trackmasters in September. That's a little closer for you.

Dave:

Is that a normal crows size. I had 44 cars in my run group. What a free for all. I was not impressed with the way they run things. I wrote them a message. I don't expect a reply but I felt like see if they were interested in feedback.

Ray, that is a typical NASA event. 44 cars is a little big for group 3, I think last time they had less than 40. Since infineon is a short track it can't hold as many people. Group 4 had closer to 60 I'm guessing. There were 40 time trialers, regular group 4 students and 20 instructors. I've written similar letters. I think since they're filling things up with a waiting list, they're not interested in changing. You are right that there are some small organizational changes they could make to make things much better for HPDE. Cheap chaos is how I describe it.

On another note, if I had stayed until the end of the day, I could have gotten my picture taken with the NASA girls on the podium. I ended up with a 1:57 with a leaking/rattling shock.

Trackmasters is working on a weekend at Laguna in September! Hopefully I'll have my shocks back by then and won't blow any more.
