Arrow Introduction to Autocrossing

I ran across this site recently...

http://www.wtfstables.com/rmsoloschool

It's a pretty good interactive intro to autocrossing. I'm thinking of making it a sticky - what do ya'll think?

I think we need a sticky on autocross tips. How about adding this also?

Actually, there are a couple of sites with "getting started" type info. I'll try to compile them all and make a sticky with them in the first post.

I like it. Especially the diagrams with the moving car. The ability to move from one tab to another is also cool.

Yes, a sticky will cut down on newbs asking the usual weekly question, "How do I get started in autocross?" But then again, we have to teach the newbs to do a search first to find the sticky.

The first hurdle is to get people to go to the right forum. A lot think that everything has to take place in the General 350Z forum.

Amen!

BTW, the traction cicle is way cool, I have a hard time explaining this to people.

Great site, but we all know that all the noobies completely disregard stickys anyway. There will be the same amount of BS posts as there is now.
That being said, I can't think of anything that would make a better sticky.
Good info, I vote yes.

Yes, but at least we'll have something we can direct them to rather than having to post the same info over and over again.

I do proffesional photography and visit many photography board. I don't expect to do anything but help others out on these boards. If you know your shiit from shinola, just help the noobies out. If you don't STFU.

HAVING SAID THAT, you should do a search and see how many god forsaken threads there are on crap that just keeps being fed by the so called experts and oldy members. I can give you many topics to search on.

It's like a mantra around here to complain about "noobie" questions. Get over it, it's not a badge of honor to know something that someone else doesn't. The badge comes from passing on your knowledge.

I'm a noobie to the Z? So what?

Great idea! I would only add that if you do start a new category, it be general enough to include something else related rather than just auto cross. Something like "Where to drive your Z".

Then it could include not just auto cross, but other types of track/race driving places and even road trips/touring too. As is, this site is set up great for those that want to mod or work on their cars, but not too friendly to those that want to do something with them once they are done modding or even want to enjoy them stock.

I haven't found any Z sites that are set up with a forum for trips, traveling gear, favored routes, or sites to see on a tour.

I own 3 very good autocrossers:
S2000 (mine)
350Z (wife's)
CRX Si (beater)

I'm already pretty active in autocrossing with my S, but my wife is just starting to get into it with her Z. Since she is about to see the light on how much fun it is to push her car to the limits, I thought I would see if the Z had an autoX FAQ like the S2000 crowd.

Here is what was done over @ S2KI and could be modeled after as a good example:
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=172595

Unfortunately, the S2000 is not well known for being easily modified, so there is not anything beyond the stock class... which I would expect the Z would need sections for more than stock.

Is there a FAQ for the 350Z that was added recently that I missed?

Thanks,

-Dave

Well, the Z can do pretty well nationally in B Stock.
It should be nationally competitive in B Street Prepared.
Beyond that, you'd have to compete in Street Modified 2.
