Heads up Playboy GT 350Z's at Barber MS Park this weekend
I was at Barber working for another team. Playboy (Unitech) blew up 2 GS motors and their 1 GT motor in the first 2 laps of practice. They put a new GT motor in the car and blew it up on the formation lap of the race. They said that the same thing happened at Barber last year and that the Crank is what gave up. They think it has to do with the running a certain RPM to long on this track and last year thought it was the harmonic balancer (Aftermarket) and switch back to stock.
Although they said that the GT motors (a VQ35 made to be a 4.0L) was only assembled 3 days before they left for Barber. So they haven't even run the engine at all.
Most teams stay away from Barber in July due to heat and that the more popular Canada race is 2 weeks after.

My favorite engine sound comes from those RX8's. I'm impressed with those things. I never would have imagined they could hang with the GT3's and GTO's. It seems that the VQ isn't competitive unless Nissan can step in and offer support.
The DP was less than exciting except for the last 20 minutes where the leader was tailed by the 75 car the entire time. You know the leader (I forget who won) had to be exhausted from all of the pressure from 75.
I finally got to see my friend on TV though (works for TRG) after three years!
