Default AUTOX class? BSP or CSP

hi,

A friend and I are going to enter into an autoX event coming up.
Ive been to about 5 or so autoX events and was told i needed to be in BSP...

He has a pontiac soltice, eibach springs, enki wheels, good rubber, exhaust and CAI.....and he is being told CSP.....

1. Whats the difference between B and C class?

my Z has coilovers, spacers, exhaust, k&N filter on oem box, tierods....

2. Could i enter CSP with him so we can have the same "heats"?? or can he enter BSP?

im guessing a B class car is faster, stronger, better than a C class car??? is that right???

- J

the first letter is for the car's general class (i.e. B - 350Z, RX-8,...C- soltice, miata,...).

from there, there are different levels of modifications...

B-stock (BS) - are for cars that fit into B class, and have very minor modifications (which are spelled out in the rules)

B-street Prepared (BSP) - usually the same car from BS, but with more modifications allowed.

The 350Z is either in BS or BSP...if you start to go crazy w/ mods (FI,...), you'll end up in some very heavily modified classes.

breif look at classes:
SS (super stock): Vettes, GT3, elise,..
AS (A stock): s2000, Evo, STi
BS: 350Z, RX-8,...
CS: miata, solstice

in general, SS is faster than AS is faster than BS....

you can't run in a slower class, but I think most clubs will allow someone to run in a faster class...so your solstice friend can run in BSP w/ you.

SM2 FTL.
We had a friend bump from BS to BSP just so he could get into the same run group. Our SCCA guys don't have a problem with people moving up in Classes.

The first letter is related to the relative performance, although it isn't "linear" -- for example G stock is "faster" than D stock. That is true for stock, street prepared, prepared, and modified. It's not true for street touring or street modified.

The rest of the designation is the group -- S for Stock, SP for Street Prepared, P for Prepared, M for Modified.

Most clubs don't mind letting people play in harder classes.

I just completed an entire season in SM2, with my STU-prepped Z.

When you think about it, it doesn't really matter which class you or your friend runs in. In the end, you're looking at comparing your times against his so the classes for you two won't mean a thing. Run where you belong and compare the raw times.

Our SCCA club runs an "X" class where people run head-to-head and doing really complete against others in the usual classes. For example, a bunch of the S2K guys ran against each other on street tires.

The Z isn't even allowed in STU (do to it being a 2 seater) So you really mean you BSP prepped Z.

Don't get me started.

2 seater.

Apparently the Z is a magical beast shackled in B-stock by its lack of camber.

But, I'm told, once the Z is unshackled from the kryptonite of stock alignment geometry, it will become an STU over-dog that tramples lesser RX-8's, E-36 M3’s, and apparently, EVO's and STI's too!

I know this phenomenon hasn't shown up in either BSP or SM2, but never mind that.

Beware the Z with camber.

Hey, for lack of money I wish I could run in STU also. Even though it's the AWD class. The 2 seat rule is BS (bull poo, not B Stock ), SCCA should just "include" the Z.
