Question 350z and gymkhana

So i just recently discovered the wonderfull sport of gymkhana.. and im obsessed with it right now.. but it only seems that ken block is the only guy that does it and the only car able to do it is a sti! I was wondering if it is possible for a 350z to do the stuff you need to do in order to complete the course and if so what set-up do you need? same as drifting maybe?

I have only seen one local event host a gymkhana and set up a course to do so.........

If this is something you just got all excited over after watching a few youtube videos then i think maybe you should get out there with your Z if you havent already and hit up some autoX events and then hit up some drift events and see and realize what you need.....

its not as simple IMHO of just buying this and that and then ta-da i have a gymkhana prep'd car...

you can start here for the basis for drifting set ups - https://my350z.com/forum/drift/39963...ing-the-z.html

In my opinion the car needs to be more drift setup oriented....

also on the obsession part of the sport, if you read more about it you'd also seen that the sport isn't getting the hype it needs and thus, events are becoming more and more limited. the scene is sadly dying. however rallyX is right there in its place so get into that .

huh never heard of rallyX.. yea i dont get why its not getting any hype... it looks so awesome. i would like to get into that scene but it seems like it would cost to much money to get into seriously for a ametuer. i.e. buying tires all the damn time

Cool. All you need is a sponsor and a vacant airport. Oh I forgot a crew. $500,000 liability insurance is a given.

or you can enter your local chapter autoX events and look for the nearest drift events and try them both out........from there......there is a will there's a way......you can look into pulling some chains and bring an event together......

for us in DFW there are tons of autoX and road options but for drifting its awesome to have Fabricatedmotorsports.com events held at Mineral Wells.

Events every month:
january 25 - feb 22 - march 22 - april 26
may 24 - june 28 - july 19 - august 23
sept 20 - oct 18 - nov 22 - dec 13

Check with your local SCCA. The group near where I live puts on "Solo One Driving Skill Competition" events in the parking lot of a drag strip.

Here's the description they give for the event:

"A driving skill competition, where you and your car negotiate a course laid out in a parking lot and marked with traffic cones. The lowest time wins, and penalty seconds are added to your score for each cone you knock down. It’s just one car at a time, so there’s little risk of trading paint with other cars. Solo II speeds are relatively low, typically second gear for most cars. The turns come up quickly, though, so don’t be fooled into thinking Solo II is boring. To get a good low time you must be smooth, precise, and quick. The skills you learn in the parking lot will greatly improve your car control, and help make you a safer driver on the street."
