Road Racing tire pressure?
Greetings all,
What do you guys recomend for me to set my tire pressure to for the road racing (NOT drag strip
)?
The temberature will be 35 - 58 degrees.
I have 18" stock tires.
Also a buddy of mine is going with his Z and he has stock 17" tires.
Let me know what ya thinking.

I agree with John.... I did two weekends at Texas World Speedway with the OEM RE040s and started with 33 front and rear. After a 20 minute session the temps were up to about 41-41.
This is with my Track model Z... and the 18" Rays wheels.
Have fun... and keep the shiny side up

Summit Point Raceway.
Thanks for your reply. Would you say 42 front, 40 back, hot is a good setup?

You going to be there at FATT tomorrow? I was planning on going, but I have a large deliverable to complete at work tomorrow... oh well. *sigh*
Yup, I will be at the FATT tomorrow (nov 7th) along with my 3 buddies from work as well as my dad who will drive my Z during a different session..
Sorry to hear to can't make it.
All of us have cameras installed in our cars, so I will post a video from the track after we edit it.

I have 5 or 6 track days on our Z now and agree that between 40 and 42 hot seems good for the RE-040 tires.
You sound like you may be new to track days, so a word of caution. Watch your brake pads. I have seen Zs use up rear pads in one track day. In 7500 miles I'm on my third set of pads and second set of rotors.
I put Porterfield high performance street pads on and they seem to be a very good comprimise for street and occasional track use.
In a Z, the last turn at Summit Point must a real challenge. Have fun.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I've heard horror stories about breaks fading, and with my dad and myself running two consecutive sessions I will have to keep an eye on the breaks.

Be VERY EASY ON YOUR BRAKES!
I hope you've changed to a race level brake fluid also.
Your stock rear brakes WON'T last more than 5 or 6 20 minute sessions if you use their capabilities. Try & pick up a spare set.
Besides all that.......have a blast & be careful!

Try both and see how it works.
At Summit Point , I've been running 40psi cold in the front and 39cold in the rear. Handling felt sloppier to me at 32psi cold. And the left front tire definately wears faster than the others at Summit Point. Brakes too. I also use DOT4brake fluid.
