The NASA Great Lakes/Midwest director asked me about possibly being the Spec Z director since we don't have one yet. There are hardly any Z's in my region, but the few that I've seen, I am at far more events than the others and I always podium (ran faster this past weekend at MO than I did at Nats and it was way hotter)

I am heavily considering it, but I do not know what all is involved and how much time I have to dedicate to it. I think it will be a great opportunity.

Do it!

it doesn't require much extra time... now that Spec Z is off the ground this should be like be being a normal director.

and with the Nationals being in your Region...

Non-NISMO, NISMO V2, or NISMO V3 front bumpers. ? . ? Discuss. . .

Do you think the V2 stuff would be worth arguing to include? I would assume the V3 stuff is a fair bit better.

I've been informed that any V2 stuff is NOT legal since it was never used in a production Z33. Aftermarket NISMO is not allowed, just OEM stuff produced as part of factory production. So V3 (front) or nada. I believe the V2 rear wing (dog ear), which was on the early NISMO, is allowed of course.

Sorry Scott- if you go by the intent of Spec Z rules, the V2 wing (and the entire V2 kit) was never sold as an actual USDM Z33 model. It was an aftermarket NISMO offering, and isn't allowed either.

That's not to say the rules couldn't be changed in the future. But for now, as you say, it's the V3 bodykit or nothing...

Thank you, David, for your comments and insight! V3, stock, or bust.

Don't know...the stuff came on the car when I purchased it. But I removed it as it was leaking from the pump...that I rebuilt yesterday. Looks like it was missing a O-ring from the factory

I am not installing in the same configuration as it was...so it will take a little while...but pics to follow..I am moving the cooler and fan under the car...this should lower the heat level inside the car...the pump and maybe the filter will be the only thing inside the car.

this is what it looked like before:

So, I was thinking (warning warning warning ) if I can increase the amount of fluid that is circulating thru my diff via the pump/cooler, I should be better able to control (lower) the Diff temps...right????

So if this is true, I wonder if I should create a storage tank in my Diff cooler plumbing? This should not be hard to do since I am already re-installing my Pump/cooler and making up new hoses...and this already adds some-to-be-determied amount of fluid to the system...and more fluid appears to be better than less fluid. I am thinking of adding a small tank like a dry-sump engine might use...

Note: As you know, the Nissan Diff only hold 1.4 liters of fluid...that appears NOT be enough to provide any cooling affects.

Comments plz!!!

In this pic mentally replace the engine with a a Diff...and note that we are not presurizing the Diff with Oil like tha engine requires...

Has anyone recorded any base line temps for the diff fluid without a cooler? I am wondering if a 30 minute session (NASA race time limit) will generate enough heat to even bother with a cooler. Warm thinner fluid uses less horsepower.

What size line is to the cooler , looks like -6 , and why didnt you keep the cooler under the car in the oil flow?

Let me assure you heat is an issue with the Wavetrac Diff.

Using an infared style thermometer, I was around 265 Degrees about 10 mins after a 20 minute qualifiing session. (~ 85 deg ambiant temps) My buddy Clark who has a Temp sensor in his diff was getting ~300 Degs...and 255 Deg external temp using the same infared style thermometer ( no idea if it is accurate) He had a Nismo diff cover but no Diff cooler. I had a stock cover and no Diff Cooler.

After a 30 minute race, I was puking large amounts of Motul 75-140 Comp Diff fluid out the breather. And OMG does the remaining Diff fluid stinkl (Burned Poo smell)

The WaveTracs are dying due to heat they generate...

I think they are -8.

And the pics you see are how the cooler was set up when I purchased it, but removed because it leaked from the pump so I never ran it that way.I plan to move as much hardware under the car to Diff level that I can.

Boiling Diff Oil does't do much for speed/friction/HP
