So I've been slacking on the build updates again. Just that I get discouraged by lack of posts. But the view count of what I am writing continues to climb so... obviously people are checking it out.

I decided to go with a full cage. The instructions were to go with a 6 point cage that can be used for time attack, meaning keep it light! But can be expanded to full road race spec later if needed. And Pat Cyr and his team at Cyrious Garageworks did a great job. Aside from that they also actually lightened the car. My car is 90 lbs lighter with the 6 point now than it was with the original 4 point I had.

Empty car, No fuel, No driver.

The car was caged. Heater core removed. Doors gutted. And rear strut tower brace replaced.

I blew another clutch (helicoiled flywheel the cause I believe) and had a OS Giken super single installed. Its lighter than the fidanza/jwt set up, the car accelerates faster. Ive got $3k into my clutch in the past year..... 8(
Did you replace the pilot bearing when you replaced the clutch?

I'm not sure actually. It was done by a trans shop so I guess it was at the discretion of the mechanic. I believe it has been done once already and my car has low miles. (53k miles)
Why do you ask?

If there's play in the pilot bearing the input may move off center and place stress on the clutch. The shear may tear the disk apart.

I've only had 1 disk tear up. The flywheel had helicoiled holes and it seems 1 wasn't flush with the flywheel potentially causing the disk to blow. I had done 6-8 laps at TMP and was on the straight making 3-4th shift and it went. The flywheel and pressure plate looked pretty good actually, I was surprised and disappointed.

I got a cool care package from an enthusiast in the States by the name of Larry Hazelwood Jr. His group is called Downshift Devour and they reached out to me for no other reason than they liked what I was doing. I was thinking this is really nice. When you get started on the track there will be a lot of people looking down on you, and in my case many still do. But keep at it and keep a good attitude about learning and developing and you'll start to gain positivity as well.

Very nice dude, I saw your car on the Mosport season opening and Grand Bend but couldn't find you to talk to you lol. You're like 1 of the only 2 people racing 350zs at CSCS I think... I'm just in the show n shine nothing special lol. Good work though, and good luck on Sunday.

And the season is done. I'm starting to plan my upgrades for the winter. Not sure exactly what I'm going to do.
