Default My Video on the Nurburgring

First off, my car is no track car. I have a lot of improvements I can do, but the most important this is that I had a great time!

Stock 2 piston brakes with Projst Me B-Force Pads
Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires
Tokico D-Spec Shocks
Espelir Springs

I noticed that I have a big limitations with brakes and suspension. Slight fade towards the end and almost no suspension travel with drop springs.

I made it just in time to make a pass as I was busy karting with the kids down the street. No time to adjust my shocks. They were set at full soft so I was floating around like a boat. Tire pressure light came on at the Karussell so I slowed down. I figure a simple shock adjustment could get me a low-mid 9 minute time (BTG). Yeah, I got passed like I was standing still by Golfs, BMW's and Porsches, but I am man enough to say it. Love this place!

Fair play to you for giving it a go. It can be a scary place what with cars of varying power and bikes flying past (that is the first clip I've seen where there are no bikes on the track) from all directions. I bet a lot of the guys in Beemers and Golfs spend most weekends there and know the track far better than you. Like you say a few well thought out adjustments and more track time and your times will come down soon enough.

Yes, you just can't compete with the people who have the track in their backyard. A well experienced driver will smoke novice drivers in GTR's, 911's, M3's in an everyday FWD Golf, Polo, civic, etc. It's so easy to race in Europe. No bs tech, or helmet rules. Literally just drive on the track and have at it everyday after work or weekends. Only if American can adopt the same concept.

Nothing beats the Ring! I'm glad you were able to challenge the Nordschleife in your own car. I would love to ship my Z over there and have a go, but I don't think it would be very cost effective. That said, there are many great rental options in the immediate area for those of us who don't have a local ride, and I've enjoyed driving a 325i, an MX-5 and a Megane RS. I've got some in-car footage from all but the 325i, if you're ever interested.

You got that right! Pure driving heaven. Sure beats anything you can do in the states. One of the most the most challenging tracks in the world with no helmet required, no tech inspections, no wait, and open 3-5 days a week to anyone. NOTHING in the states can compare to that. All people want to do in the U.S. is stand around in parking lots nowadays.

I was going to rent a Toyota FT86 (FR-S) but they hit me with an 8900 Euro deposit ($12,000 usd) for one lap. No thanks.

I live about 1200 miles away, so it takes a dedicated **** to want to experience the 'ring. Plus, i had my whole family with me, so there is no way I'm gonna go 10/10 on the ring being that far away from home.

Post the videos!
