SCCA was already (or "only"?) 32 years old when I first joined the ranks! And rejoined a few years ago after a 25 year absence! I don't participate in active racing any longer but just as my friend, an avid baseball fan, proudly flies the colors and logo of her favorite team on her cars, I still proudly display the logo on the side quarter windows of all my cars! Rice, much? Why sure, the sticker makes my car (think it's) faster! Hahahaha!
I don't think having an SCCA sticker on your car is "rice" at all. I think it shows that you actually track your car. And let's face it, that's pretty rare. I would be proud of those stickers. I have a good friend who is going to be racing his BMW in SCCA this year and I'm looking forward to following him and running some time trials events in my Z. I can't wait for summer.
SCCA is spending a lot of time and effort in resurrecting time trial (TT) events this year. Besides road racing, solo, rallycross and rally events, SCCA has put more emphasis on track and TT events in the last year. What class will your friend be racing in this year, John? SCCA really gave the BMW spec E46 some advantages in Touring 3...

I am not sure which class he's racing in. He just bought a second BMW to run as well. It'll be him and his boys. The Wogrins.

This could be a strange coincidence, but your friends aren't Christopher and Cameron Wogrin, are they? They raced in Rocky Mountain Division SCCA last year in a Improved Touring BMW 325i.

Yep. That's them. I work with Chris and he got me started down this rabbit hole. I had some medical issues in 2018 and didn't make it out one single time. I intend to change that this year.

Great- maybe we'll see you out at High Plains Raceway this year? We'll celebrate the 75th anniversary of the SCCA at an appropriate venue (at the racetrack)!

I hope so. That's the plan. Just got my KW's and the NISMO LSD. So the build SLOWLY continues to go Spec Z. We are also building a shop in the next couple of months. So hopefully I'll have a lift. I really missed the track and am planning on doing as many events as I can.
I'll tell the Wogrins you said hello. They are still here in Denver and don't plan on moving. I'll think you'll see a lot of them this summer at the SCCA events.
