Big difference between 100 and 120 mph, that's aprox twice braking distance required to get down to 50-60 mph entry speed.
That field is not as wide as you'd think. Used to be one could end up on the shooting range access road, nowadays there is a sand trap, two rows of tires, and a metal guardrail back there.If the grass is wet it's quite possible to see them up close. Not that I'm speaking from personal experience... :P

Spent a day in the garage to swap the brakes and install lower pass seat mount.
It took my expert eye, but I think I found the issue with the rear caliper
That was the pass side that caught on fire, the driver's side wasn't much better. Good news is that there didn't seem to be any other damage from the fire, the axle boot, the ebrake cable, all the plastic bits are ok. So I was able to go ahead and install the new setup.
And front
I ended up with PFC 01 pads on the front, which is always my preferred choice, but had to go with gloc R10s in the rear, wasn't able to find PFC fitment for it. Apparently they did have it once, but no longer produced and pretty much unobtanium.

Remounted pass seat. Still a bit higher than the driver's side, but now about 1-2" lower than before. Way more headroom.
Still got all the rear control arms to replace. That'll have to wait for another weekend.
Had to take the front brakes back apart cause something was binding. At first I thought maybe the rotor thickness was different and the tire was hitting the upright but that wasn't it. It looked like maybe the dust shield on the back was rubbing but once I took the rotor off I realized the adapter bracket mount screw was rubbing on the back of the rotor. The kit includes both flat and locking washers for all 4 bolts that hold the plate and the caliper, but if you install both washers on that bolt it sticks out too far and rubs. I removed the flat washer and now the rotor spins freely. Would've been nice to know so I didn't have to waste a couple hours troubleshooting this.
Once this was sorted I swapped all the rear suspension links and did an alignment. Since I was running short on time I didn't change the front specs, 1/8" total toe in and 3.5-4 degrees of camber, but I did adjust the rear to 2.5 degrees of camber and 0 toe. These measurement are using a lot more exact tools, so yes, apparently my cheap *** camber gauge was lying to me showing >5 degrees of camber. I'll watch the tire wear and I might reduce the camber a bit more if necessary, but it's good enough now.
Considering signing up for either NASA Summit Main on the 27-28 or HOD Shenandoah on the 21st to test the brake setup and alignment. Anyone else going to either?

I will be there on the 27-28. I'm in HPDE1 and they said they may do a lead/follow format. Do you have an idea on how that might work?

The students are organized in groups of 3-4 cars with an instructor car leading each group. We would usually do passing exercises on the straights where last car in the group passes and tucks behind the instructor so that the student cars in the group rotate. Most instructors can do a good job of keeping the pace of the group just fast enough for everyone to keep up, but in the end it is the pace of the slowest driver in that group. Also, we don't allow passing of other groups on the track, so that slows things down too. For your sake I hope nasa has a plan to allow groups to pass each other to keep the pace moving.

What is a typical attendance for an NASA event and what how do they break it down? Looks like 4 groups? Are there any 'bonus' groups during the day that eat up timeslots like parade laps, open-wheel only, or race-car only? I ask becasue I'm on west coast where NASA isn't common. Here's it's a bunch of smaller clubs. I'd say half are OEM branded (Audi Club, PCA, BMW) or for-profit clubs (HOD, Turn2, Speed Ventures, etc.) Usually we have 3-4 groups each running ~20min and group headcount is limited to 25 people in a a run.
