There's no rush for quality.

Refreshing thread that I just saw today for the first time and I particularly like the process and the progress that's gone into defining what you're doing. Others should take note.

Small update on the build.
Most of the rear parts are mounted, and not so many parts on the front because some bolts and the rubber boots for the steering rods did not come on time.

The steering rack was sent to a shop that repairs them and they check everything inside and change all the seals so it will work correctly and have no leaks. Also mounted the GK Tech aluminium bushings for it.
Cleaning the old parts that I reuse is time consuming but I can't let them rusty and ugly that's for sure.
Taking a break this weekend but Monday back to work on the Z.

Back to work on the Z.

The front and rear arms and links are 95% done and torque to spec.
I want to point out that for the rear bearings I put a screw and washers to simulate the drive shaft since the rear diff and axles are not finished and I want to put the chassi on the wheels and without tightening the bearings they will get damaged because of the weight. Did not tighten to spec but good and tight.

Tomorrow I want to finish the steering rack so the car can stand on its wheels and steer.

Is there any reason why you did not fit aftermarket grip suspension kits front and rear? GKtech for one have them, they supposedly improve the suspension's kinematics.

What I checked at GKTech, their front kits are for drifting, and the rear kits except for the arms the rest are also for drift applications.
In my build the car has full pillow ball spherical bearings front and rear and replaced all the arms that I can find so I can make the settings for the suspension.
The only part that did not arrive and I will replace when it gets delivered is the Rear upper camber arms.

Today I wanted to finish with the steering rack but had to stop until tomorrow because i need to make a custom bushing so I can fit the rood with splines from the stock rack to my steering tube there is a difference in diameters and the only way to mount it center and perfect before welding is to make a custom bushing.
And the stock boot to fit I had to enlarge the hole a little bit and it fits nicely.

Interesting because GTech Australia list their parts which are for grip purposes. While their front LCA's are made to give a lot of steering lock that doesn't preclude them from being used for grip purposes. Basically it's all a matter of using parts that will allow the wheel alignment specs required, are rod ended and which will incorporate useful kinetics. Like increasing toe in during roll.

Afterhaveing GKTech parts fail on me street driving, I would never recommend using them. Rod ends in bending do not belong on any car, much less a racecar. Being unable to understand that makes me question all of GKTechs design choices, including what they think is optimal kinematics.

If you can give me a link that would be nice, I checked on GK USA website.
The parts that are for drift applications are made to push your front outwords and to make an insane lock, angle and still have grip to steer the car.
A race car has to be able to take the corners as fast as possible.

Today I finished the steering rack, welded the splinted rod from the stock one and torque the bolts. The weld is not very nice looking but is a deep weld all around and also I drilled 3 holes in the tube to have an extra safety weld. The holes are drilled in the tube rack not in the piece that slides inside.
Also mounted the steering rods and put some wheels so I can move the car around.
Until the other parts and new bolts arrive I will stop here with the chassi and start assembling the engine.

Link Search: 92 results found for "370z" (gktech.com) It's likely the same one you looked at and it's the 370Z that gets all the goodies, not the 350, me bad.

+1

Last photos looked amazing. What's your goal with the build? Do you have a class in mind?

Hello everyone

I have not posted because the 350Z was sitting in the shop. This year was very bussy!!! Building another shop because we have no more space, Building and fixing customers cars and of course our own projects and also finding time for Racing with the Dacia Logan.
I want this winter to start working again on the Z because I really want to race the car in 2026
Here are some pictures with the work from 2025
You can follow us on https://www.facebook.com/baleamotorsport/

I know it is off post but I want to mention that the Econoline van is very dear to me, It was my father's van. He had it from 1994 until 2002 and after 22 years I found it and I bought it, it was in a very poor shape and I have been fixing ALL the mechanic work and in spring I will continue with the interior and paint.
