How are you getting the leather boot to fit?

I used the Momo leather boot. I also cut the boot to 6 inches and I knocked out the tabs on the ring.... Still can't get the ring all the way in so its flush against the base.

I think its the thickness of the seams is what's getting in the way....

Is there a trick or a step I'm missing?????

I did buy a ebrake and shifter boot from them. I got black leather with red stitching.

 

i bought this shift boot from redline goods, its great quality, i highly recommend them. I also took the actuator off of the original shifter, and i like how it sits much lower now. i bought the shifter second-hand but i bough some plastic tube from lowes and put it on there and it works ok, i have to re-adjust it every once in a while because it comes loose. well, here are the pics.

as far as the **** goes i feel i got lucky, because i found somebody on here that sold it to me for 60 shipped... but the cheapest i found anywhere online was a special on ebay (didn't last long) that was $75 shipped, everywhere else is going to be around $100 shipped, unless these have gone down in price since the summer...

no its really not hard at all... i got the 3/8" tubing from the plumbing section in lowes, took some effort to get it on but it fit really snug, and it helps %100 with the fitment of the ****... taking off the stock **** i would say is the hardest part the first time, i know i was afraid of breaking something, but there really isnt anything to break.

the boot however is a little different. since there isn't anything to really secure the boot in place (if you don't do it it will keep coming out and looking bad, and be obnoxious). so i took apart that part of the dash, and took out the black part that has P R N D etc... and drilled a few holes in the sides that sit under the console, totally not visible if you were to ever go back to stock. i secured them on there with some small wire, works great. taking apart the dash is also frightening the first time, i was afraid i was going to break something then too because it is really hard to pull off, but you have to pull hard, you've got no choice, and if i didn't break anything, i'm pretty sure you won't. in all it was pretty easy to do, i would say like 30 mins if you knew what you were doing and had all the right parts at the same time.

 

Very similar. The 2003's have the shift button on the side, the 04+ it's in the front.

Here's mine. I didn't want to really trying make it look like a manual, but just to replace it with what I consider the best looking OEM auto **** out there.

I have a brief DIY somewhere on G35driver. **** and boot from everythingnissan.com, had to call them up. Total cost is about $100.

 

How do you shift out of park without the push button. are you guys disabling it somehow?

 

You simply push down on the ****, Like many MT Cars when you want to go in reverse do.

i would check ebay, occasionally they have one for about $75 shipped, but usually you can't find them less than about 90, more like 100. (the top silver part of the shifter is a button that you push down to shift out of park, etc.) Before I found one on here that a member was selling, i just did a search in google for momo automatic and went thru those results, usually a bunch of crap, but if i remember cardomain.com had it for a resonable price, i don't remember really tho, i havent looked since this past summer.

 

Did you have to cut the boot at all? Some people who have done this needed to cut the boot to around 6"

Also, any problems with getting the silver ring back in place?

I've had a hell of time trying to get the ring around the MOMO boot I bought.
