Here are some pictures of how the ring fits in without the console piece;

As you can see there are some wide pieces of plastic that go around the trim ring. The ring only goes on one way, so I put a Small mark at dead center of the ring so I know its exact position to be mounted.

I then removed the bulk of the “Tabs” around the ring, leaving only the places that it snaps in. This also removes the centering “Channels” on either side that makes the ring fit so tight. All of this cut out was needed to accommodate my Momo Boot with the Piping.

I then fit the boot over the entire area; I re-installed the console and then pressed the ring down with a few taps of a rubber mallet.

Here is the finsihed Product, I choose the Aluminium Version of the **** to compliment my HU and the Silver Piped Momo Boot;

Removing the blue plastic extender makes a huge difference in how the car shifts in Manual Mode, It just a quick flick of the wrist!!

you can cut the alumium part of the shift stick to lower it even more. I will post some pic of mine later. however, for that you cant use the stock 5AT's center plastic part. so I got a 2mm thick alum strip and made a ring to fit inside to secure the boot. and to secure the stock ring back on without the center plastic part, i used the four metal clips taken off that plastic thing and fit them around the stock ring's inner extened part.

the result is amazing :]

i know this prob wont make sense unless you spend the time to play with it alittle.

I could be wrong though. Any information would be great!

The Momo Boot is extra thick with that Piping and it went on well, so I figure just about any boot should work.

Here's mine. I didn't want to really trying make it look like a manual, but just to replace it with what I consider the best looking OEM auto **** out there.

I have a brief DIY somewhere on G35driver. **** and boot from everythingnissan.com, had to call them up. Total cost is about $100.
I want that. Anyone have a link for the diy?

There should be a rubber or plastic "ring" that slides over the shaft of the stick and then the **** slides over it. If you dont have one, You can make one out of a plastic collet you can find at lowes or home depot. Look for something (Tube like) that is about 1/2 inch wide and just big enough to slide inside the **** tight. I bought one that was slighty bigger than the inside of the **** and cut a little slit out of the middle so it would fit Ultra tight.

Does anyone happen to know or could get me the inside diameter and outside diameter of that shift ring for me? And lastly is it made of metal or plastic. I am currently working on something custom. This information would be most helpful! Thanks!
