Well i'm moving now so this will have to wait a bit, or untill i can get some one to cut these for me. Unless you could make the brackets for me useing the ones you have as a temp. I understand if ya can't, but all my tools are in a storage house for god knows how long.
If ya can i will pay ya for your trouble.

also
Do you have any finished pic's of your new install.

Cheers

Kevin

Kevin, I can make you a set no problem. As long as you aren't in a huge hurry. Work this week looks like it may be busy but I think I will be making a set for Redmike as well. That said, do you already have struts? I ask because I need to know what threads to tap into the plate for the ball stud. Let me know what you plan to do in terms of a strut and I should be able to crank these out in a couple days. If you want, I can probably just get the struts that the original poster used and ball studs and ship you a full kit. All I would charge is parts + $10. The only thing left for you to do would be tapping the whole in the Z. Let me know what you want to do.

I will attempt some new pics tomorrow. I took some on my old phone but forgot to post before I got my iPhone I will take some new ones!

That would be great!
I have already bought the struts/ball studs and nuts.
I don't know what the ball stud mesures and all my tap's and dy's are packed tell ya what, if you can drill a small starter hole i could drill it out the the proper size. I was going to use locknuts and some lock tight to hold it anyway. I wasn't going to tap and dy any of the holes, lock nuts and a dab of lock tight will wok fine.

So a ll i need is the "L" brackets with the holes for the hood and a starter hole for where the strut mounts.

Thanks sooooo Much

Kevin

Kevin, bare with me as I may not be able to ship these till Friday. I out at the target range shooting all day tomorrow (yeah, work is tough). If we get out early enough, I have them in my car so I can ship. Otherwise definitely Friday!

got my brackets from linedlium - they are great

painted it with some satin black paint and it looks terrific

does anyone know of any super low pressure struts that will work for a very very very light (non factory) hood?

Adam,

How much lighter is your hood compared to stock? I was playing around with my own stock hood and found a set of struts that worked well with some crude brackets I fabbed up. I also bought a second set of struts that use about 25% less force than the ones I used, so I think they would work very well on an extremely light-weight hood.

I spoke to Kwame about this previously, and the only thing stopping me from selling kits for light-weight (cf/fiberglass) hoods is finding a shop that will make brackets at a reasonable price so that I can keep costs down. If you would like the low-pressure struts I have though, PM me. I believe I have the low pressure struts, ball socket ends and ball studs (just no mounting brackets).

Hey Jason, thanks

My new hood weights about 1/3 of what a factory hood does (no kidding!) The dampers I got were good pressure wise, but they are too long. I need something around 13 inches long from one end to the other (with the socket/ball end on it)

I had a set of brackets done by lindelium above - very simple L, but they use both hood bolts, where as many of the other bracket designs only used 1 (lame). I just dont want to damage the hood down the road

The ones I have are 13.75" extended length (not accounting for the additional length the ball socket ends add), so these might be a little too long for you. Total length is around 14.5".

that might still work - I was using the Tein length as a reference point

Any idea how long the actual casing is (exclusive of the piston)? That seems to be the biggest hinderance with these things

I'll have to measure the housing when I get home, but if it helps, the stroke is 5.5"

The tein dampers give a nice angle (roughly 60 degrees in my estimation) when the hood is fully open. These will definitely open the hood much further (approximate 75 degree opening).
