Just an update, Napa sells the metric ball stud to use so you dont have to weld or tap. Napa part number 735-3608. I had to buy these for the Tein dampers since they changed their design and no longer provide them.

MEGA UPDATE!
THANKS TO ( buffmanjeff ) for his post 88. He found that NAPA sells the ball stud needed so that you DO NOT need to tap or weld...
This find makes this how too way easier to an already easy how to.
see attached pics.
1. Remember you only need two of the napa p/n 735-3608 ball studs per car. they mount on the fender factory bolt hole location. NAPA P/N 735-3608 COST 5.14 EACH!
2. You still need two NAPA part number: 735-1591 - 5/16 thread ball studs for the angle mounted on the hood. I doubt the p/n 735-3608 would be good to use for the hood location due to the size and short length of the shaft. you can torque down the 5/16th ones more. besides they are cheaper and easier to work with.

Post 42 lists the part number for NAPA lift support as BK.819-5517, but your edit to post 2 has UPDATE: LIFT SUPPORT MODEL # BK.818-5517 60LB.
Searching the NAPA site, it looks like BK.819-5517 is the correct part number.

The factory hood is fairly light and more than likely flex before the extremely stiff hood dampers actually retract.
I just bought one and noticed that also. I can't even press them in. They are rock hard. Is there a trick to it?
I got a couple of scrap pieces of 2x4, and put one on the ground and the other on the other end of the prop and just pushed it down several times. Put your weight into it and it shouldn't be that hard.
Good Luck

Damn I wish I found this thread earlier in the day, called my local NAPA but can't get the parts in from the warehouse til monday, Stupid thing is the warehouse is closer to me at the moment than the Napa store is but they don't sell over the counter there on saturdays
Can you guys post up some pics of your DIY brackets to get an idea of what I should have? Planning on making a set of those today so I can just install it all Monday.
