Sorry to revive an old thread, but I removed my wiper and squirter today and used a different plug. I removed everything like everyone else did. I went to Lowe's and found black nylon hole plugs, $1.96 for two I think. I bought a bag of 1" plugs and a bag of 7/8" plugs. The 1" plugs did not fit the hole for the wiper arm, so I had to modify. You can flame me if you want but I took a round file and made the original hole slightly bigger to fit the 1" plug, and when I mean slightly I mean very very little. It popped it perfect and flush. I painted it with the closest thing I had to CS. I took out the squirter and put some silicone on the 7/8" plug and it popped in perfect without any modifications. I also sealed the back side of the plug of the wiper arm. Here are my results:

Sorry for the big pics!!

It is kinda hard to get it out. I used a pair of needle nose pliers or anything that you can get up there, I just couldn't reach it with my fingers. You push in and up and one side of the squirter from inside the hatch and it comes out the top of the hatch. Pull the fluid line off of it and there ya go!

That looks EXACTLY like the plugs that I bought a few years ago from this guy on 350z motoring. They were great, paint match was perfect. I guess that's where he got them.

Did you get spray paint? Where did you buy it? How much did it run you?

For the CS paint? OH! I see you have an 07 with carbon silver. I have an 03 thats chrome silver, but I'm sure they have yours too. Actually it was suppose to be in today but it didn't come in. I will give it a few more days though before I start bitchin'. I just typed in google automotive touchup paint and clicked on the first link, yeah not that smart of an idea, but oh well. I just got a little bottle and it was like almost $20 if not more, I can't remember. They did have many sizes to choose from and you could get it in a spray can. The paint code they had on their site for CS was right though, who knows I might put it on the car and it could be silverstone, lol.

further notes...

yes - no hatch weight under mine either (and i wanted to remove 5 free #s!)

the spatula starting at the latch worked great no breakage

no need to plug the squirter - it has a 1 way valve in the ~4" stub tube - just pull off and put on backwards ( i did break the bottom of the spray squirter so will need to replace that if i every put the wiper back on- i ended up just grabbing it with pliers and pulling up out of the top of the hatch - came out fine (use a rag to prevent scatches))

off to lowes to get nylon plugs 7/8 and 15/16ths...

Went to Home Depot yesterday to look for this plug, they didn't have the correct ones in stock. Went to Lowes today and checked there and they had it. After a sizing, I noticed that the plug threads fit the hole perfectly but the top of the head is actually quite big. I got in contact with the aircraft sheetmetals guys a few hangars down and talked to them for a few hours, seeing if they can come up with a piece that fits perfectly that has clips on the bottom side that would fold back onto the bottom piece of our trunk, to try to achieve the most flush plug possible. I'll get word back later on today.

I know I typed alot , sorry. Also found some other alternatives. They also have a small quarter size slider that goes under furniture, could possibly use one of those with some silicone underneath to have a smaller plug that is also quite flush.

Either case, good write up. I removed mine fairly quick, I just have a hole in my trunk now

Mine has been fine since I installed it. So for what that's worth — give it a try.
