Default HELP. Changing my springs. Torque specs?

Anyone out there swap their springs on their own? Do you know where I can get the torque specs on all the bolts that need to come off the suspension?? Is there an FSM online or something???

Any instructions anywhere???

There is a FSM online, but I can't seem to find the link right now. If you don't have it by later today, I will post a pic of the suspension page from the manual.

Thank you. That is a huge help. I'm not doing this project until tomorrow....so no rush.

Any estimates on how long this will take me (with one other person for help)

Rear is a 30 minute job since it just a couple bolts. The front might take around an hour a side since you have to remove the entire assembly and then take off the upper mount to get the stock spring out and put the new one in and then reassemble everything. I recommend using a spring compressor per the service manual but other guys make fun of me for saying that.

Re: springs compressor
Depends on what springs you will be using. The eibachs went in sooo easy, but the Hotckis were a lil more difficult since they were not as short. In the front, when you replace the spring, the shorter the better since you won't have to compress it to rethread the top nut (you will see when you get working).

For tightness ... we always go with german specs ... goodentight hopefully king tut can get you the manual ... since I really have no idea

Cool.... You lost me on the spring compressor thing. I was planning on using one, so I don't understand why they'd make fun of you????

Anyhow, this is a HUGE help. Sounds like it won't take too long at all. I'm more of an engine guy, so this is my first venture into messing with the suspension. I heard sways are pretty easy too, which I'll be doing next month.

Oh, and BTW, I'm putting Tein S-techs on.

Some guys say that the Nissan's OEM spring is not tight enough on the top hat to worry about compressing it before removing the top hat, so they think you are a worry wort for using one . You shouldn't need to use the spring compressor again when installing the aftermarket springs just taking out the OEM ones in my experience.

True ... there is a bit of preload in the stock springs ... but keep any bit of force on the top while you are unscrewing it and you will be fine. Then again, a free compressor from Autozone is a nice safety precaution.

I just open it up to a good size and hit the Print Screen button which copies the screen to the clipboard. Then I open an image in Photoshop and paste it in.

Well, you guys were spot on! It was really pretty simple...we started at 2pm and were done at 5:30pm. Not bad for basically just taking the wheel off and going..."hmm..which bolts do you think we need to take off???". We obviously spent the most time figuring out how to do the first front and rear springs...after doing it once, our time was cut in half. My friend just installed an air compressor in his garage a week ago, and I must say, having air tools is the way to go.

Thanks a ton guys for all the help!!! I love this website!
