Default Brake Pad Suggestions

It’s finally time for a front brake job to get rid of those dusty stock pads. I’m looking for suggestions as to what pads to buy. I have two requirements:

1. Relative low cost… $80.00 max
2. Low/no brake dust.

Give me your suggestions gang.

$80? Wow. Save a few more pennies and get some NISMOs. Very low dust, excellent performance. $120 for fronts, $100 for rears. For $80 Hawks would be your better choice (about $60).

Thanks for the suggestion. What's the real difference between the Hawks and the NISMO's besides price? One thing to consider is that I don't track the car... i'm just your average daily driver.

Default Ceramic Brake Pads

I picked up all 4 brake pads from Autozone (special ordered) last week and will be installing them this weekend. They are the best pads they had and they are made by Morse, and were about $83 total (for all four). The brake dust is minimal, but its light-colored dust which may never even be visible. The ceramics provide superior braking power versus carbon-based (standard pads); they provide superior heat dissipation, and are ultra-quiet compared to traditional pads. They may even last a bit longer than standard pads. I will post my actual results after this weekend.

I dont think that there is that much of a difference. NISMO pads are semi-metallic, low dust pads. Supposedly they are for track use. I just got them because I am a NISMO nut and try to get my hands on anything NISMO. Not the best of reasons, but A reason...

HAwk HPS -readily available, relatively low dust, and a substantial improvement over stock

what ever you get, make sure they are not "organic" I'm guessing organic really means metallic 'cause my front brakes squeals so damn much after I put mine on.

I won't replace them 'cause I'm teaching myself a listen for not getting ceramics

Default ceramics = the way to go!

The 4 pads together, with tax, all ceramics made by Morse, were around $82.

I would suggest to get the Hawks.

Btw, I have slight used OEM break pads for sale... here's the link if you're interested.

From our website...

Hawk HPS street performance pads for the front of the 2004 Nissan 350Z except Track Model.

$64.95 - Item No. 63-410-0653

As others have said, these would be a good choice for your needs.

Zboater-

I do not recommend the NISMO's for track use. I absolutely killed them in a two day track event a couple of months ago.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It looks like the Hawks are the way to go... the cost is in my ball park and the dusting is low... just what i'm looking for. Thanks.
