I have anew 05 Roadster and have been noticing lots and lots of brake dust on the front wheels. Everyweek the entire wheel is blackish. I have been told by the dealer that it is normal. have any of you guys seen this or have an answer. Any advice would be appreciated.

its the stock brake pads, they wear quick and produce xhit loads of dust, if u want to stop it, replace it w/ hawk hps pads. those offer better stopping power and drastically reduced the brake dust.

do i have have to replace the rotors too, or just the brake pads. Also in how many miles do you think the pads will run out.

no, just the pads. i have an 03 and i changed out the stock pads at around 7k. and i current have 32 k on my car. and i checked 1 month ago on the brake wear, and its still little to none. excellent pads to switch to.

i do semi spirited to easy driving most of the time. i strongly recommend! cheers

other aftermarket brands also offer brake pads for the brembo version, but they will cost more than the non-brembos

Default Hawk pads

I put Hawk HPS pads on the front of my 04 about four months ago. The improvement is fantastic. The front wheels are no more dirty than the rear after several weeks of driving. Braking is equal to, or better than stock and extremely clean. You will love these pads!

Well mine are light red from the Hawks. I don't think you can do much besides get those dust covers which will kill the cooling.

theres so much dust because car manufacturers use organic brake pads. they wear fast and have lots of dust, every car in my family that was purchased new had terrible brake dust and the wheels would be black by the end of a week of driving, same with my car. any ceramic pad will greatly reduce the amount of dust.

34,000 miles on the OEM pads, and they look good. Wear fast?

HAWKS!!! Forget the dust covers--way too much heat retention.

First of all, it depends on your driving style. Second of all it depends on where you're driving. If 75% of your miles are on highway, you obvioulsy arent braking very much, but if 75% of your miles are in the city, your pads are going to wear much faster.

I was speaking in general, stock organic pads wear faster than aftermarket ceramic pads. You may be at 34,000 miles with plenty of pad left but there also a lot of people here that have replaced their brakes at 15,000 miles.

Sorry but I didn’t make myself clear: I was referring to the life of the OEM brake pads not dust on the wheels.
