Default Best Coilover you can get?

Guys, I will spend 1000$ on the coilover. The reason I want to drop the car is just for the look, not necessary going on track with it. I want to find something is a combination of comfort/performance. I want to drop at least 1.5 inch front and rear. The suspension doesnt have to be new, any suggestion on which brand or model?

If you just want the look and save some money, just cut the stock springs and save yourself that 1k!

Tanabe gf210 Springs $199.00........ 1.2" front and 1.6" rear drop...
Eibach anti-roll kit ( front and rear sways ) $399.00

This will have a VERY NICE drop and it will stick to the road very nicely given that you set the sways on the hardest setting..

Well, if I just cut the OEM springs, they might be bad for handling and my OEM shocks will damage, right? I believe even if I just change the spring, the shocks will be damage too (given that if I drop the car more than 1') ...so thats why I thought of change the whole coilover..

bang for the buck, TEIN basic coilovers. not too stiff and good quality and performance for about $900.00. they will get you to the ride hight you want, with improved handling.

Man - Ke0ki2k - you beat me to it.

Moton's are the best you can buy. But, good luck finding them for under $5000 w/o springs! And you can't store the car long on the ground with the wheels on it.

If looks is your concern, go with springs instead. Hotchiks makes a good kit that includes the springs and sway bars for under $500 (i think) or Tanabe Springs.

Dont spending $1000+ on something you know you'll never use. Save some money and get rims and a kit instead. Coilovers isnt really for everyone.

why cant you store it on the ground with wheels on for long mood? and btw mood what would you get if your main playground was a touge style mountain road (the dragon), Tein basic coilovers or TcKline Konis with T2 springs?

If you truly want coilovers I say Tein basic. I myself have been on Hotchkis springs for 2years w/ not much problems w/ shocks yet. Probably about 20K miles w/ them on. I will be switching to coilovers but that's cause I plan to track car. Personally I'm considering Zeal Function, Cusco or Tanabe Sustec Pro Seven. Another thing you might want to consider is camber issues. If you drop more than 1" like you're saying, you will need to address rear and front camber or you'll go through tires quickly. GL.

Unless you truly know how to utilize your adustments to the fullest, don't bother with the TCKRs. When you're playing with two separate adjustments (compression and rebound), you're more likely to make the car worse unless you truly know what you're doing. The single adjustment on the Teins (and pretty much all single adjustable "tuner" kits) affects both bump and rebound, and provides a muted median. However, if you really know what you're doing and you can baseline settings on a track and work from there, the TCKRs are the way to go. Also, the TCKRs are specifically valved for the T2 springs - all other "tuner" coilover kits have pretty poor dampening valving and usually mask it with high spring rates. And since 99% of the people who buy them don't know, they continue to sell tons of them because they look pretty.

just to make sure i'm on the same page here.....do coilovers come with after market SHOCKS as well?

so the benefits over springs are ride height adjustability, and shocks...
