Default Opinion on Eibach Springs

I have recently purchased a set of Eibachs and am trying to decide if I want to install them or not. I have heard a few people talk about scraping the underside of the car, and other people saying it hurts suspension, makes the car too low, etc.

I am planning on the purchase of some 20" wheels later, and a body kit. I would maybe also purchase coilovers later if the springs will cause problems for me.

Any opinions are welcome!!!

Default Eibach is my 2nd choice

Eibach is my 2nd choice, I am considering NISMO first thinking it handles better and replaces the shocks. Seems Eibachs might wear out shoucks quiker than stock so include that + alignment cost for that set up. My other concern is feathering with Eibach. We all know feather is an issue with Z's, my idea is they are warrantying "S" NISMO mods so my hope is the NISMO S suspension will be coverd for warranty if feathering becomes an issue.

haven't people been able to get new tires because of feathering even though they use aftermarket shocks/springs/coilovers? i *thought* there were some ppl who had coilovers and still got new tires...maybe i'm wrong

I hope you are right! Pls post if you got warranty work on feathering with after market suspension. Then, if dealers are giving us greif, we can throw it back at them. This would help me in selcting which suspension to get knowing that if Nissan will warranty all suspensions, i can select from many options.

Anyone who has had to replace tires after doing suspension mods simply did not get the car aligned properly after the mods.

With the Eibachs, while we generally recommend a new alignment afterwards, it is not essential, as the negative camber induced by the lower rideheight is not that significant (since the drop is on the mild side)

To me the issue is not as much if the after market suspension is causing excessive wear as the issue of you being able to get relief from Nissan because they will blame it on modified suspension. Read old threads, a lot of people are getting feathering with stock suspension. I am just affraid that once a person puts on non-Nissan suspension, the dealer will blame it on the modified suspension even though stock suspension is having the same problems in many cases. At least with stock or NISMO S suspension, Nissan cannot blame anyone but themselves. That does not mean Eibach is a problem, it just gives a possible out for Nissan.

I think you'll find the warranty issues vary by dealer....thats always how it is. Those who understand the proper modification of a car tend to be pretty cool about honoring the warranty even if its modded. Those who don't will void it if you took their license plate frame off !

Even with a NISMO suspension, it may technically be a Nissan part, but until its officially sold here in the US by Nissa themsevles, don't count on that to save you from them voiding it..they can if they want to, sad and irresponsible as it is (I ahve been there!)

Yes, I understand, that is why I am waiting until NISMO releases in USA at dealers for NISMO S suspension.

Not only you need to buy the S-Tune susension from the dealer, you also have to pay mucho $$$ for them to install it to be cover warranty.. be prepared to shell out some dough!

Do you honestly think the NISMO will cost more from a dealer here than getting it from Japan like people are doing now?

You can buy the S-Tune from Grupp-S for $1200.00 shipped. It's backordered until July btw. That is a great price..

I just don't think the dealer will sell it for under that price, consider it's a Nismo product and it's a complete shock/spring set. But we'll see.

I got Eibach on order, waiting for either Tokico or Koni to complete the set on my Z.

Per John N., head of the Nismo Z project, as reported by 350ZFRENZY in the 2003 SEMA report:
NISMO pricing will not be released until products gets to dealers. Parts will be significantly less than prices in Japan, and comparable or less than other aftermarket. Nissan really wants to compete in the aftermarket, and plans to price accordingly.

Thumbs up

Eibach are good springs. Not sure if the spring for Z has progessive spring rate. But i had they for my old BMW and they were great. Had them on for 7 years and no bottoming out.

I have no personal experience on reduction of bounce if it is Eibachs or Nismo, can people that have installed NISMO S suspension tell us if bounce is gone or still there?

Fairlady Z in Japan said the bounce is ELIMINATED with the Nismo S-Tune kit.

Here's his extensive review:

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit installed now, all I can tell you is WOW!

Here are the few things I noticed:

1. Bouncy is GONE! At soon as I drove the car on the road, I can noticed the car can sense the road bumps a little more, and it seems firmer. But there's no up and down bounceness like before.. Very nice sports car ride..

2. Car turn-in and out is much neutral than before. When taking a corner, the car stays with the power and it doesn't drag like before...The rear just follows the front.. very nice!

3. The side to side steering seems like a little slower, not much. Maybe less than 1/2sec respond when you move your steering left and right, like changing lanes.

4. It looks awasome! The rear wheel looks kind of tucked in, so if you have rims that is flushed with the rear fender, DON"T get this spring. the rear tires will rub the fender. The front is ok, not as much drop as rear. I think it's about 0.8" fornt, maybe 1" in the rear?

5. Over all ground clearance dropped about 1". I took the measurement from where the front mudguard are mounted.

** I had tire feathering before, I will check again in a couple thousand miles to see if it comes back. I have new tires now**

Overall Very Satisified.. Go for it!!

I finally have my Eibach installed. The springs sat in my garage for about a month.

Wow I can say there a huge difference. The porpoising is gone.

And the ride feels more planted. And the jarring feeling of going over bumps is smoothed out.

However the car is low now... I scrap the tranny on my way out .

Some might say the ride is too soft but I'm happy b/c I don't feel like my filllings are going to come out.
