So after about 17k miles I had to replace my brakes, but when I took it to the Cerritos dealership they said I had to replace the rotors too when replacing brakes. I am just wondering, did i get gyped or is this true?
It depends. Does your car vibrate or shake when you brake? If so the rotors may be warped. If they are warped then many times they can be resurfaced if you have enough disc thickness left. Have the mechanic show you the mic. readings that he took. They should be in 32nds. You will want to see how close your rotors are to minimum safety specs. Sometimes you might be too close and cutting the rotors afterwards would put you over or too close to the minimum spec. You can always get a second opinion if you don't trust them.

I did..... but I took it the car in this morning and told them about the sqeaking and they upgraded me to ceramic pads for FREE. So I now I have new ceramic pads and no sqeaking.
