Default Squeak! UPDATE: FIXED !!

UPDATE: Squeak resolved, head down a few posts for solution.

Driving around slowly on local streets I hear a faint squeaking sound originating somewhere from the front end. While this sound is only audible during slow speed driving, it is quite annoying and a bit embarrassing as well. Thought it might be the end links but the sound cannot be reproduced turning the steering wheel from side to side. However I found I can reproduce the sound when I open the door, climb on the sill and rock the car hard. The squeak sound definitely originates from the front end and it does seem to (very) temporarily diminish after going through a car wash. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Rocking the wheel does nothing for endlinks. Put the car up on ramps and have someone rock it while you try find the noise.

I climbed on the door sill and rocked the entire car with my body weight. The squeak originated from the front wheel area but I could not pinpoint the wheel - rocked the car on both sides and it sounded the same. Had the struts needed replacing I should have heard more of a banging sound or at least some leaking. What else could this be?

Do you have after market sway bars?

Sway bar bushings are known for squeaking and require periodic greasing, specially the hotchkis ones.

I doubt my swaybar is aftermarket but I'll grease the bushings as I have no other leads at this time. Will report back with findings.

UPDATE: With the help of a friend I was able to pinpoint the sound much closer to the source - it originated from the passenger side and not the middle after all. The sound seems to be originating from the upper control arm bushings. Hard to tell, sound was bouncing around in the wheel well. I'll use a stethoscope to pinpoint when I get a chance. Once located I'll spray some silicone and if the noise does not leave off to the dealer it goes for bushing replacement...

Default dissapointing update

The car went in for service - The Nissan guys kept it for two days and said while they could replicate the squeak, two days worth of searching proved fruitless. They told me that the shocks were tested for leaks and that the suspension is tight all around (but who knows for sure). Is that a bunch of bs or what? A qualified Nissan mechanic could not find a squeak in two days worth of work?

Anyhow, I guess I'm on my own in trying to pinpoint this mouse squeak of mine. I'll see what I can find when I get home from work. In the meantime, any, absolutely any ideas would be appreciated. Once again, the noise seems to originate from the front passanger side wheel well. Could a loose bolt somewhere cause the suspension to squeak like a mouse? A shot mount or bushing would likely knock or groan, not squeak, correct? Gentlemen, please pitch in - I am getting desperate

Could inadequately lubed axle spline cause mouse squeaks / chirps?

UPDATE: Squeak resolved!

The Nissan tech had to be full of it, with some help from a friend I diagnosed the problem in about 15 minutes. Our strategy was simple: Jacked up the Z , grabbed a rubber mallet and started tapping on just about everything trying to replicate the noise. Turns out it was the passanger side engine mount. Sprayed the base of the mount with some penetrating oil - no more mouse squeaks. It's most intresting that the mount looked fine and was not loose. We'll see how long the lube job lasts, might have to replace the mount if the mouse squeaks come back.

Good to hear you fixed it...my car is doing the exact same thing

How long ago did you first notice it sqeaking? I first noticed mine was squeaking yesterday, and I was hoping it would just go away on its own. If not I'll have to try what you did.

So far the noise has not returned. I noticed the squeak the night I got the car. You have good access to the mount through the oil drain cutout in the front undercarrige cover. Good luck!
