Default just installed OEM brembo, got some problems, please HELP!

well i just installed teh brembos. It won't stop good unless i pump the brakes. I think i might have a couple of ideas.

1. Are the bleeder valve suppose to be at the top or the bottom when installed?

I have the rear bleeders pointed up and the front pointed down. So basically it has to be one of them. I have to redo one of the pairs and switch them around. can someone tell me which is right?

I first did the rears and it was pointed up and the fluid went all over my caliper. so the front i let them point down which i thought was right since it was easier to come out and wasn't as messy. I looked up some pics and saw the bleeder on top.

I need to bleed again as well. I bled each corner 4 times. Not sure if that's enough. I"m going to try 8 time each tomorrow.

Thanks.

The bleeders point up. Also you know there are two on each front caliper - one on the front and one on the back. If you are not bleeding the back one also you will have issues. Did you install the front calipers upside down???

Also you can use a rubber mallet and tap the calipers while bleeding to knock loose any air bubbles - this can help.

according to your post, i have. The bleeder is pointed down. So what process do i do? switch them around then bleed the top then the back? Thanks for your quick response and help.

Yeah, swap the right and left front calipers around and rebleed. Should be fine

Caliper should look like this:

Thanks bro. You been a help. That's a clear pic for me. One more question though. I just went outside and looked behind the front calipers..i dont' see another valve to bleed. I just seen where teh brake lines are installed. I also have stoptech ss lines which replace the hardlines and the metal square boxes that the fluid goes though in the lines.

Yeah I put the stoptech lines on mine too when I swapped (mine is a touring I put the brembos on) - it does eliminate the hardlines. Look on the top of the caliper though, just behind the first bleeder there is a second one. It is not really on the back of the caliper, but still on the top. You will see it when you take them off and reinstall. Mine were a bit of a pain to bleed also. Did it once myself and did a good job but the pedal still felt a little mushy, so took it and had the shop rebleed again. Same feel. After a few miles though it firmed back up, so it must have just taken a little bit to burp out that last airbubble that may have been in there. That is why the mallet trick helps out some. I also used a power-bleeder that basically sucks out the brake fluid rather than making a huge mess. Good luck!

This isn't a knock against the OP but if you're not sure what you are doing either have someone experienced supervise you or let the pros handle it. Brakes are no trivial matter and is the most important safety device on the car.

Thanks offset, bled all the brakes again. I honestly never seen the other bleeder valve on the calipers. It feels a lot better now. They are great. I had a bbk on my previous car which was two piston calipers but only had one bleeder valve. Thanks again. I learn a new thing everyday

As a general rule, the bleeder is at the top... that goes for every make and model. Otherwise, the point of the bleeder is lost -- you could never get the air out.

thanks for the tip. It's wierd though. My other BBK for my other car weren't interchangable for some reason. So i thought the bleeder being on the bottom made sense for bleeding sine it won't run all over the caliper and making a mess. That goes to show that you can't rely on instint and pure guessing.

You can (and should) get a clear length of hose to put on the nipple, then run that into a jar. This way you keep the calipers and driveway clean and can see the bubbles come out. It also helps keep any air from getting sucked back in.

+1... This is a must for the Brembos because brake fluild will take paint off fairly quickly.
