+1 Tho I would switch out the brake lines and pads for track use.

Ok 06 with ducts vs stock brembo's we can only speculate. All things the same (tires, pads ) may be close. The 06 brakes arn't really to bad at all.

Stopping distance, normal street driving with same pads and tires will be the same. Stopping distance while hot , we go back to the speculation thing.

Brake lines, all rubber lines have flex. New or old, some just more than others. If you don't believe me, grab the line and have someone hit the brakes. You will always get a firmer pedal, but it may not be noticable, buts its there. Last thing to consider, track us with rubber lines. They tend to fail because of the heat they are subjected to from the rotors.
I honestly don't think the 03-05 brakes are 1/2 bad...at least for street use, and the occasional autox.

If a difference isn't noticable, then how can you prove it is different...?

For street use they are fine, and for 99% of autocross they the 05 and older brakes will also work fine. Since we were talking about cooling duct use, i figured it would be considered track us. No need for cooling ducts for autocross.

The difference just won't be noticable at your foot. You will probably feel more of a difference from the brake bleed. How do i know, sportbikes. We do the same thing with out lines, but the front brake is off they fingers. Fingers are a lot more sensitive that your foot/leg.

Hope that helps.

That does help thx. I've never tried aftermarket lines...so was curious.

On the ducts. I was really referring to track use, but forgot about that. sorry work is hectic today.

I haven't torn into my Z, or any Z for that matter...Why do the 03-05 brakes suck? I have heard a cpl ppl say that, but never understood why. Size? we know size does matter! ha. I def. worked them out at the last autox, and they were strong enough to lock up my tires (wish I had stickier tires).

only a cpl feet longer than stock brembo car. less than 10 from stoptech's "OMG I'M A HUGE BRAKE SYSTEM"

And then the brake ducts might negate much of the thermal isues....a nice breeze does wonders to lower temps

Repeated use heat/fade is what separates the stock from other. More brake surface etc..

hence my question about Ducting....air being blown over brakes = less heat = less fade...in theory.

other "upgrades" like lines, pads, fluid may help this fade issue as well...I'm not trying to argue, just bring up an alternative theory...If ducting works on hiperf. cars w/ massive brakes, why wouldn't it help less awesome brakes...maybe even more than it helps the big ones...since there's likely to be a larger decrease in heat.

I would go with Brembo and a set of Hawks. Better modulation and feel. And less fade.

ducting sounds like another good alternative. if you can quickly cool down an engine temp by opening your hood, i think the same things goes for the brakes... 'a little breeze can make a difference', especially when abusing the Z at track.

but try to drive a Brembo'd Z (or better yet with stage2 upgrade), play with the brakes for a while to the feel the difference (if your friend would let u) and from there on maybe u can finally decide.

Hm... Nissan is listed...where? And What size wheels do you have to run such huge calipers jeeze... I'm running on 19"s, and can't imagine a 15 or 16" caliper fitting.

Rotora makes a 12 piston application for the Z33. 19" wheels minimum clearance for the 15" rotors... They are custom made to order. I'll post pics of my Z33R in a couple of weeks with these puppies...

Just paint your stock brakes your favorite 'racing' color. Everyone not in the know, will think you're a big baller, yo.

The rest of us will be laughing at you and your cheap setup for being such a punk-*** ricer. Lolz~

Brembos > stock - Period.
