Default SPC rear Camber and Toe (bolt) question

My Z is not lowered.

I just installed the SPC rear camber arms and I am wondering if I really need to elongate the stock location for the (SPC) included toe bolt.

Has anyone here installed the SPC rear camber arms and NOT used the included toe bolt ??

(I know I could take it to an alignment shop and get the answer . . . . but I thought I'd post the question here first.)

If your Z isn't lowered you will be able to get the toe into oem spec without the toe bolts...

Then again perhaps I'm kind of not understanding your question. I assume you got the aftermarket kit to run more camber in the rear for tracking or something?

I don't know if it was because my springs settled or ? but my rear tires were definately like / \ viewed from the rear. I used the SPC arms to straighten them a bit | |.

You typically only need the camber arms and toe bolts when you car is lowered. When you are low you will pass the point that the factory adjustments can compensate for. If you aren't lowered, you dont need either.

So... No, you don't need to elongate the hole if you are in spec. I see you are in Atlanta, I have a buddy who works at an alignment shop who can take a look for you. PM me if you want his info.

You probably won't need to widen the whole. My car is dropped over 1.5 inches in the rear and I still didn't need to widen the whole. Also widening the whole doesn't really do much to correct your toe because the bolt and the small washer type thing that it comes with is limited in its movement by the groves in the sub-frame not necessarily by the size of the whole.

The wheels will run around -1.5 camber stock. That's normal. You should see rear camber on not only Z's, but pretty much any sports car. You'll notice it less (the wheels will look identical camber wise) on sedans and such where performance isn't an issue.

I just installed the camber arms and toe bolts myself today. I would elongate the slots if i were you. It gives you the adjustability if you ever need it. Plus, its not difficult at all to do.

there is no point in installing the spc toe bolts without elongating the subframe holes. You will still be limited by the stock adjustment range. You will probably actually end up with less adjustment range since the spc bolt will not be able to turn freely in the OEM sized slot

Let me correct what i had previously said. I did widen the whole in my rear subframe when installing the toe bolt. It was the guy that did my alignment that said it was not necessary to widen the whole because he has gotten many 350z into spec that have toe bolts without widening the whole. This guy is pretty reputable also and he has been around for a very long time so i trust what he says. Just widen the hole if you install the bolts. Its not very hard to do with the proper tools.

If he got them in spec without a wider hole, then he would have gotten them in spec with the stock toe bolt just fine. The SPC toe bolt won't do anything without a wider hole. It would be the same as stock.

Without a drop of course you can get it into spec.

Aggressive drops will require the toe bolt kit and elongated hole to get back into spec.

Thats how the Z is.. / \ ......typically cambered in like that...

we need more info, i know you say that your Z isn't lowered, so i'm guessing you are still on stock suspension, that being said, you really shouldn't need anything.

but, if you have the rear camber arms installed, your good -ol- neighborhood alignment shop should be able to get you within spec no problem...., once again, if your on your stock suspension, stock height....etc...

i would just save the toe bolt for when and if you ever lower your Z....then for sure you would need to elongate the "doctors pill" and install that bolt....

Oem setting also is not at zero degree toe angle. without elongating the hole, depending on how much your car is lowered, you will need it to get it back into spec. i think the oem setting had a little bit of negative toe angle. os if you stand over the rear tire of your car, it looks like the tire is pointed in towards the front of your car. camber is adjusted by the arm, toe is by the bolt.

OEM is -1.1 to -2.1º camber for the rears. And elongate the hole. You can get it back to spec without it elongated but it'd probably be around -2º if you did ~1" drop. I'd say just elongate it and save yourself the hassle in the future.

I just got my alignment today and I am have a hard time to get to spec. I have my z with a 1.5, 2 in drop and I have a 19's. I have the camber kit and toe kit installed. The guy that did my alignment said he could not get everything into spec.. He stated that if he gets toe in spec then the camber will be off and vice/versa. I don't know if this guy knows what he is doing but its better than what it was before.
