Default Akebono BBK!

UPS just dropped off my Akebono BBK!

I'm going to install them this weekend, take plenty of pics, and write up a DIY for the install. I bought the kit with Stoptech slotted front rotors, blank rears, and stainless brake lines (front and rear). I have plenty of ATE fluid in the garage too! The plan is to run the OEM pads for now and once they need replaced (or if they just totally suck on the track) then I'm going with Project Mu B-Force pads.

I'm going to try to weight the parts to see the delta between the two setups. I know there will be a large difference in rotors, but that's the price to pay.

Onto the pics!

Stoptech slotted fronts (14")

shot of kit,

Rear caliper, the color looks great in person

Rear caliper piston,

Front caliper (wow, this thing is amazingly light for its size!)

Front Caliper piston

Well the G's are $1425. The Z's are $1995.

The powder coating quote I have is for $80 for all four calipers, and I really want black.
I can not wait to see yours on the car.

Can you measure the distance between the mounting holes
For the caliper? This measure would be greatly appreciated...
Front and rear if possible. Thanks!

No it is not a rebadged Brembo. Akebono is a leader in brake manufacturing. They supply the brakes for a little known F1 team (McLaren). The G37 and 370Z kit are the exact same kit, it's just the Z's are going for a little more from Concept Z....probably due to exclusivity. The fronts are 14" calipers compared to the 12.8" from Brembo. Also the rears are 13.8 inch calipers. The calipers are also MUCH larger than the Brembo's.

Here's a caliper comparison, I don't know the piston size specifics.

no, but I will sell you a set of brackets

Rears bolt directly up. The fronts require adapter brackets.

I have a "slightly" more complex bracketing problem in the pipeline.
Just trying to get a feel for size versus what I have coming my way.
