you swap out the metal cone type piece that connect the compression rod into the steering knuckle. I compared them and it's slightly smaller than the OEM part.

Im surprised they dont make his clear in the descriptions Ive read. I wouldve been much more inclined to pay the extra money over the Megans had I known this. Ultimately ended up sending back the megans. Thanks for the info.

yeah, I was surprised too, I thought they sent me two sets by accident because I got two boxes. One box had the ball joints and the other had the metal cones and nuts.

So my ex-wife works for a dealership so she can get parts at cost from the local Nissan dealership.
What part numbers do I need to replace the OE ball joints and steering knuckle.

Theres no way it could be $2500. Is this with labor? Even still thats ridiculous. Id recommend going with a new one, since you never know what a used one has been through. I was quoted 400 plus a couple hundred in labor to replace mine with a new OEM piece, from a reputable shop.

Ask your ex wife

I dont think anyone knows this off the top of their head. Besides, you have to buy the whole knuckle assembly if you want oem. They dont sell just the ball joint.

that's without labour... Monopoly.. one dealer for the whole country, and parts are priced sky high. in the states, the z prices back in 2006 were @ $30k, here they were around $45k. here is another one, an ETC sensor goes for $3000!!

we end up buying from abroad to save up! most things aren't reasonable in this country.

I find it hard to believe Nissan doesn't sell the ball joint separately. The part number (or similar) should be available from another car. Has anyone ever checked? Can the Nissan database search by part type?

I haven't looked under the car to specifically check the ball joints, but I haven't had an issue with the eBay one that I purchased years ago. I've been to several track days and even more autox's, drove across country a few times, and daily drove on them.

looks like duralast BJL148 are the OEM ones that are made in japan. autozone has them for $70 each. is an alignment needed after replacing?

Just to be clear the lower ball joint, refer to the bushings for the steering knuckle, right? Because the dealership told me there is no replacement bushings available, which is why the price so exorbitant on the knuckles. That duralast model looks to be pretty solid, but I take that megan racing roll center adjuster is also the bushings for the steering knuckle? Thanks.

With the dealership there is no replacement for the balljoint. They can only see you the entire assembly. If you're trying to replace just te bushing you should make sure the greese isn't bad or there's no dirt in there

Good to know about the dirt. Now is the Megan racing roll center adjuster the same as the bushing for the knuckles that I need? Thanks

they are not bushings, they are ball joints

if I want to just change the boot with energy 13009 and fill it up with grease would there be anything wrong with going this route as opposed to changing the ball joint with the duralast
thanks
