Question Napa brake pads good?

Hey, I have the nismo with brembo brakes, and i'm wondering how would the stock OEM brake pads compare with the best quality ceramic napa brakes? http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...+521205+598999

Would they preform just as well? Hopefully its not a downgrade from OEM?

Well I have no idea what pads comes in OEM for the brembo stock system, and I don't want to get worse then stock. Just wondering if anyone knows if the stoping power would be better or worse, and how it would do with brake fade? I also do not want to damage my rotors

They are as good as any other pads sold by places like Pepboys, Autozone, Carquest, etc. They are find for the street, but they aren't high-performance so don't expect them to work great on a track or hold up to hard driving.

They won't damage your rotors. Do you race the Z on a track?

I do not track the Z, but I do hard braking. People would say I'm hard on the brakes. I do go up to the mountains sometimes also. Would you recommend Hawk HPS way over these? Or stock over them? The reason i'm looking at these is because my friend works with napa and could possibly get 50% off down to 45 per axle

*I* wouldn't use the Hawks but I'm sure there are a lot of people here that still like them. Not know who makes the Napa brakes, it's hard to say - but if they are Bendix, Akebono or other reputable manufacturer, then they should serve you well for street use. Braking hard may cause them to wear out faster, but if NAPA is like most places, you can buy the "lifetime" pads and when they wear out, they give you a new set for free.

Just hop on the Hawk HPS pads, I have them and they are so much better than stock, although I do not track my car or have Brembo brakes, so take my advice with a grain of salt. From time to time I do brake hard, but they hold up to what I need. I bought mine from a vendor off of here for a little bit over the stock pricing also.

Ghost - I see you're in Cali where it usually never rains or gets cold. The complaints that I've read about the HPS pads that keeps me away from them is that they have poor stopping when cold or wet. Something the OP has to consider living in Georgia.

True, but here in the High Desert, its usually around 30-40* F every morning and night during this time of the year and we just had rain for a week straight about a month ago. I never really got to drive the brakes hard when it rained, but as cold as it is right now, the HPS holds up pretty good still.

Lets ask a common sense question... is anything you buy from napa good? If it is, you can surly get it from walmart for cheaper.

they should be fine....Looks like you are looking for an economical pad that works.

Get the premium NON CERAMIC pads.

they have good bite and wont wear down the rotors.

If you get ceramic pads...they also have good bite at the cost of wearing down the rotors.

Choice A the pads take the brunt not the rotor.

just my experience.......

Uh, Ceramic pads don't wear the rotor, that's one of their main points...

How are people finding the dust from the HPS?

you can get hawks on ebay for like 50-70 a pair. and there is in fact a significant reduction in dust with those.

These were used by a local 350Z at a track. Completely toast at the end of ONE 20 minute session.
