Default stop-tech street pads for OEM-Brembo opinions?

So I've searched and most querrys return BBK results, not too much specifically about the stop-tech pads for the OEM-brembo setup. I am just curious what some users input are on the Stop-Tech Street Performance pads?

They seem to offer Hawk HPS like performance, but at a slightly lower cost. I'm just looking for a street driven pad that doesnt create too much dust or squeal and can still hang for "street carving." I'm guessing this compound is also the off-the-shelf compound for their BBK unless otherwise requested by the consumer?

Product Description:
Para-aramid compound
High co-efficient friction
Excellent for street and high performance vehicles
Gentle on rotors
Low noise/ brake dust
Long rotor and pad life
Non-asbestos, low metal content
No modifications required

What is the pad#? Are they the Stoptech 309s?

Well, those are the 309s, so if that's what he is asking about, they seem to be a pretty good "all around" pad, as two of my friends run them. If they can handle track abuse, I'm in for some hefty brake pad $ savings.

Good to know, I'm due for pads and I was considering these.

yes those would be the ones. I hope for similar performance to Hawk HPS pads, but at autozone prices would be nice for street use. I have extra pads in "race" compounds, so these would just be street use and to keep my wheels clean.

I think I am going to bite on them. Thanks for feedback so far. I'll be sure to post up my comments. I will be doing new rotors, pads and fluid I think next weekend it looks like.

I have two friends that track the 309 pad (in Stoptech calipers), so they may be enough for a track pad as well. Might as well try them given the cost, I know I'm going to (compared to $200+ for my front race pads and $160 for rear race pads).

Just to bump and older thread, I just ordered a set of these to replace (read save) my carbotech pads which are very loud.

Crap, I forgot to bump this thread...I installed mine and so far I am very impressed with them over the Hawk HPS (800 miles on them I guess). With the Hawk HPS it was a clear compromise of brake power for low dust levels. These StopTech SP pads are much better at braking, especially initial bite power which was a huge issue for the HPS. Trade off is a little more brake dust than the HPS, but it is still millions less than OEM pads and a worthy sacrifice for better braking at a lower cost to the hyped HPS pads. These should also offer better fade resistance than the HPS, but I dont think I would still consider them a serious track pad.

I just put these on, and wow. I don't think I would want to use them on a track after running the Carbotech AX6 pads. These don't bite nearly as well, but they are very quiet so far, which is what I was looking for.

I dont know too much about the Carbotech series other than they seem to be better suited for track applications. Have you tried the Hawk HPS, you'd probably feel as though you were braking without pads, very little feedback on initial bite, even compared to the StopTech pads.

I too wanted something quiet, low dust and street effective and so far these have measured up.

Just so you guys know, our StopTech Performance pads have a temperature range similar to that of Ferodo DS2500's and can be taken on the track. Cars using street tires or a BBK should be able to drive to the track, run all day along and drive home with no issues. Stock brakes with R-comps may have some issues, but thats really a trial and error thing based on driving style, ability and the track you're on. We do see some accelerated pad wear when the pads are overheated like all pads, but we have not been seeing any pad deposition or vibration issues which does happen with other pads.

While the initial bite is not as high as other track pads, the average coefficient of friction is comparable with other high performance street pads. As temperatures and pedal pressures increase, you will see there is still more than enough torque to attain full ABS activation. It will require a slight adjustment from other pads that have more up front bite but nothing that cant be adjusted for within a few days of driving or a track session
