Default Sway Bar End Link Question...(under car right now)

Hey I was in the process of inspecting my SPL V2 arms because they were yet again making funny noises. Saw my sway endlinks and the do not seem to be straight up and down. I believe they have been like this since the install. For some reason drivers side endlink does not look right to me. The passenger endlink does seem to be straight up and down. Any info would help....under car right now

I just called Hotchkis and they told me that you can only use polyurethane grease?? and they said its hard to find in the auto stores?? told me to buy it on their website of course.....

Is high pressure Moly grease a polyurethane grease?

Thanks in advance.

Tighten the jam nuts on the two rod ends that adjust caster...those rod ends need to be perfectly perpendicular to the mount orientation.........tighten the jam nut and noises from the V2 will go away...

did you turn into your garage, bump up a small garage "lip" of concrete and then "you" were the only one in your car??

--- Would make sense that the drivers side is more angled over the passenger side....

FLOOR:
How do you like that garage floor?? does it hold up well?

ABS:
what shocks do you have that your abs line isnt mounted? curious, as it appears one must be mounted/zip tied where the other is dangling down??

The jam nuts were very tight. Only got about another 1mm turn to tighten. They seem to also be very perpendicular to both the ends of the arms and the mounting "walls" of the car itself. Main joint is not seized like it was before I sent them back to SPL. It moves easily when you wiggle it around.

No and No and Yes I was the only one in the car. The drivers side endlink has always been some what crooked since original install like the pics show.

Floor is awesome. Kinda slick though when wet. Hold up great, but does not hold up to CBR RR garage burnouts lol... do not attempt

I have Stance coilovers. What I believe is the ABS wire and brake line is held with zip tie. Nothing is dangling freely.

Also what grease is preferable to use in sway lubrication. Any high pressure grease?

The endlink is probably trash, and of course its binding some. First thing i would do is back off your sway bar setting unless your running a 295 R compound up front.

Should be noise free from there then......main joint tight area with the "shims" tight?

maybe the endlink itself is breaking inside (thats my bet!) the oem endlink boot........oem ones can break and make noise inside the boot...maybe remove the drivers side one and check its "play"...

I guess what hotchkis recomends........I myself wouldnt bother taking the time to order from them and waiting........its a sway bar, not exhaust bearings....LOL........

I would just source any local polyurethane grease or just use the moly crap-o-la..

Just a small point Lablework75. What you need is not “polyurethane grease” but instead a grease that is suitable for use on urethane and polyurethane. Petroleum based greases, including ones with lithium and moly additives don’t work well on urethane. You need a synthetic grease such as a silicone based lube. Unfortunately, most of these are of lower viscosity, and for a suspension parts (that live in very severe environment) a thick, sticky, waterproof grease is required.

Shop at a larger auto parts store that specializes in suspension parts and components for something suitable, and use lots of it.

Nope. That's Lithium based which washes away too easily. That's why the Moly based greases are recommended. You should be able to find moly based grease at Autozone, OReilly, Carquest, etc.

I drilled, tapped and installed zerk fitting on my sway bar bushings. Its so easy to grease with my grease gun.

Is there a thread showing how you did this? My rears have the zerk fitting but my front do not.

Nope, just buy a pack of Zerk fitting, drill thru the retainer and bushing, cut a grease channel, tap the retainer and install the zerk. Simple 20 minute mod
