Default Break pad recomendation? EBC Yellow Stuff? Hawks HPS?

I need to replace my brake pads, and was wondering what brand/model people recommend. My car is an 03' Touring and I have the stock non-brembo breaks. My current pads squeak a lot until they get warmed up. From what I read from other posts it sounds like that's not necessarily a problem, but it is annoying.

I don't take my car to the track or anything like that. So what pads do you guys recommend? I'd definitively prefer as set that doesn't squeak as much as my current breaks. I've search around the forum and seen Hawk HPS, and EBC Yellow stuff mentioned a lot. How do these compare? Any other brands/models I should consider?

My Hawk HPS pads have some pretty good stopping power, but they squeak like a ****. A lot of other people also complained about the squeaking with these pads.

I use EBC red stuff. Its for street use, but for hard driving. It doesn't squeel and leaves little brake dust if any at all. I've had them on my car for the past 25k miles or so. I'm going to be installing new EBC Redstuff brakes and EBC dimpled rotors (these dont warp). I previously used the oem rotors and they are getting pretty warped with the ebc brakes.

Between the two: Car or truck? Hawk. Dirt bike? EBC. And there are a lot of other choices out there as well.

I've never had a problem with HPS squeaking.. but I just put in some HP+ pads and those squeak and make noise like no other.

I hear that HAWKS squeak, but that's with the brembo brakes

I went with the GiroDisc, but I don't do any hardcore racing, but they are a moderately aggressive street brake, but best part is that there is NO SQUEAK on the non-brembo brakes and even better, compared to the OEM, I have about 10x LESS brake dust and my wheels stay clean all the time

Both are garbage......Way back when I had the HPS they weren't noisy at all. The HP+'s are pretty noisy though.

Check out our StopTech Street Performance pads, low noise and dust levels with high bite and a temperature range capable of light track use. Theres a review of them by a user on the forums here:

I now use the the stoptech street pads for autox. Only one event on them, but I'm impressed thus far.

Yup thats me..I would stay away from the HPS...get the Stop-Tech Street Performance pads, you wont regret it. Just dont go expecting them to be as low dust as the HPS. Thats about the only thing the HPS does well, but it comes at a huge sacrifice of performance. The stop-techs still don't dust nearly as bad as OEM pads, just not a great as some of the others out there that dust less.

HPS has sucking stopping power lol. But indeed, they produce less brake dust. I have HPS front and STOPTECh high perf pads rear.I think the stoptch gives good stopping power although they r in the rear. They produce brake dust ALOT eventhough they are on rear. I drove the car like 2 miles and whew...very noticeable brake dusts. I can't imagine how much dusts it would make for front..

I'm currently running on these... Before I had HPS. This one seems better than the HPS. Ionno personal preference I guess...
