370 "Nissan" brakes on 350
complaints/issues w/ overheating are on stock pads... strange brake failures cause people don't bed in their pads... ie. car and driver... pad selection i have no clue honestly so i cant argue lol if your going to track these then get track pads and upgrade your fluid like you would any brakes.
I'm not hating on the Akebonos, but I've been following this thread and I'd have concerns about running these on the track till these issues are identified and eliminated. The lack of track pad selection and the large size forcing larger wheel/tires (19" tires are twice the cost of 17" in my experience) are also concerns as a recreational racer.
They actually have been around for a long time. They do all the brakes on the toyota trucks. I have a 1999 4 Runner that has Akebono 4 piston fronts from the factory. So they have been around long enough.
^100% Correct... I was a Master Certified Toyo/Lex parts counterman. They're a good brake system but with other options... its at the bottom of the list IMHO and being that I own them. I got the Brembo's(F/R) calipers for less than $800 and the other items I mentioned cost me close to 1600.00 so for 2400.00 I got a legit track setup that I don't have to worry about at all.

Wow dude.. thats a sweet deal. What drove the price up of my set up were the DBA's, I figured b/c my Z is seeing less and less road time that I'd just get the 2-piece fronts w/the Ferodo's. I'm going to miss my local HPDE which would be my first one anyway and the next one is in about 1.5hrs north but I'm making the trip anyway.
