Default 370 "Nissan" brakes on 350

Hello everyone. I was at a meet a couple days ago and saw a 40th anniversary 370z. Upon closer inspection, I saw a nice set of calipers with "Nissan" imprinted on them (similar to the z32 calipers). After further research I found that these come stock on the 40th anniversary z (not sure if they are optional on other models). Incidentally I am looking to upgrade my brakes but not get too crazy. That said, I was wondering if anyone has tried to fit the 370 brakes on the 350 and if so, if they were successful. Thanks.

I have a set... they're called Akebono's I got mine from CZP, if you plan on getting them be VERY CAREFUL and make they'll fit being your wheels. I'm getting rid of mine for that very reason.

Before... I have a Touring 6-speed

After.. I had them inverted and realized it when I started bleeding them, the bleeding screw points up.

Here's the link... I upgraded to Powerslot Rotors and SS lines.

Thanks all. I didn't know it was so common. I did a quick search and didn't find much. Seems like a better option than the factory brembos. Now I gotta decide if I want these or the quaife lsd first. And yes I will be tracking this car

hmmm.. it depends. They look nice and all but Akebono's dont have very much pad selection. I'm going back to factory Brembo's for that very reason.... don't get me wrong for city driving its more than enough, I've had to use them in panic situations and they worked very very very well. If you plan on tracking your car... I'd look at a Brembo, Stoptech, or maybe a Willwood set up. I'm going with DBA rotors 5000SX(Front), DBA 4000SX(Rears), Stoptech lines, Ferodo DS2500 pads(front and rear) and ATS fluid. Check the classifieds... there's Stoptechs available as well some factory Brembo's. If you do decide to do the Akebono's pay special attention to how they sit on the bracket, if not they'll make all sorts of noise. Good luck.

The Brembo's are actually a better solution than the Akebonos with respect to tracking the car. If you just daily drive the car and it doesn't see any track time...i.e (road racing or AutoX) then go with the Akebonos. If you're tracking the car definitely the Brembos w/SS lines, stoptech 2-piece rotors, with Superblue fluid and you're golden.

^ I agree with Flo-rida.....about going with either OEM Brembo, Stoptech, or Willwood.

For me and my uses i would put Wilwood or Brembo on top of the list, since wilwoods have a great pad selection. however i purchased brembos for VERY VERY cheap so done and done...

I autoX and drift, so Stoptech, due to their aluminum rear hats were out of the question with ebrake, etc....

What kind of track events do you plan on doing???

+1, If tracking, I'd stay away from the 370Z Akebonos, too many complaints/issues w/ overheating, ice mode and other strange brake failures (i.e. Car and Driver crashed 370 Nismo) and poor pad selection. Check out the 370 boards if you want more info on these issues. Brembo, Stoptech, or Wilwood are much more reliable choices.

Wow, I had no idea they weren't track worthy. Guess I'll continue looking for a set of affordable Brembos. Thanks for all the input. I plan on doing some road course racing, that's about it.

complaints/issues w/ overheating are on stock pads... strange brake failures cause people don't bed in their pads... ie. car and driver... pad selection i have no clue honestly so i cant argue lol if your going to track these then get track pads and upgrade your fluid like you would any brakes.

That event was over reacted. There was a couple factors.

I personally am doing the swap, with SS lines, Hawk HP+ pads and RBF600 fluid. If you have never boiled your single pistons you already have, you will see nothing but improvement.

There are a couple pros and cons
14" rotor and huge freaking caliper = sexy
14" rotor and huge freaking caliper = Your wheels probally dont fit
14" rotor and huge freaking caliper = 22lb of unsprung weight in each corner
Parts are not as developed yet, but soon enough. They finally got 2 piece rotors out, but they run from 500-600 buck iirc.... thats per axle.

like 20 percent of other Z have brembos so i was wanting something different.
I cant see myself paying 3-4 for a full track worthy setup.

Upon Test fit, i found out my wheels didnt fit, so i bought new ones.

Now i didnt say they where better then oem brembo. Brembo i a very proven name in brakes. Akebono has been around, but not on calipers and complete setups, mostly pads. But they are very comparable.

The Brembo's are better hands down for AutoX... The other reason that I got rid of mine was the fact I couldn't fit them behind most wheels, the caliper is way too wide. I have 18x9/10 +20 BBS LM's that barely clear the back of the wheel, take a look in the pic. I would take the advice of all the guys in regards to tracking and worry less about being different. At the end of the day the Akebono's are still a 4pot and have a 14" rotor, the Brembo's are a 4pot w/13" rotors. Their is absolutely no advantage whatsoever to having the Akebono's if you plan to track the car. I have a set of Akebono's that I personally installed and now I'm going to Brembo's b/c I couldn't justify the price of Stoptech's with all the other mods I'm doing to my car. OP take good advice when its given...
