Question Is there a fix? Brakes click once when pads shift?

I've done a search about the single "brake click" that happens when I first hit the brakes after backing up and then moving forward and it explained that it was the brake pad shifting inside the calipers, which is what I thought it might be, but there is no explanation on how to fix it. Is this something that is fixable? I don't remember them making this noise when the car was new. By the way the pads are new.

You have a floating caliper and when you go into reverse then forward... they shift. It's common and yea you could change the pad clips but it'll do it again eventually.

I've talked to some people and they've said that some pads used to come with new clips and a tube of the anti-squeal grease in the box. It's unfortunate that the oem replacement pads from nissan are just the pads only. I'm not sure but I believe the clips are memory metal and I imagine that from all the heat buildup from breaking it will make the metal lose it's memory i.e. spring. I suppose next time I change the pads I'll be sure to get new clips too. Oh well.

I'm assuming you have Brembo's?

The pad clips are made from stainless steel and will wear over time by design. They are sacrificial since they are much cheaper to replace than the cast iron cages, which wouldn't have enough contact surface area anyway.

An 06 base, no brembos.
I'll remember to get some clips next time I change my brakes.
It's either a rattle somewhere in the cabin, or a creak, click, or squeak from outside, eh? Love my 350z!

I hear the "click" when I go from reverse to a stop.. then to 1st. Lexus 4pot calipers make that sound so its common for me to hear.
