Default For those with SS brake lines...

I'm wondering how long the install will take for SS brake lines? Any tips or pointers from you guys who have done it? I have the track Brembos. Thanks for your help!

took longer to put the car up on four jack stands than to change all four lines...

I've done the swap many times in the past with my other cars, so I may be a bad indicator of how easy it is. Anyway, it's not that hard at all... just need a few wrenches and rags to clean up the mess you will make with brake fluid.

This is a great time to flush the system and put in better brake fluid! Be sure not to let the master cylinder run dry... very bad. I used one and a half bottles of Motul 600 to fully flush and bleed the brake system.

Hope that helps.

I did it by myself and it's not hard at all. The mess isn't bad if you drain the system first. I used a vacuum bleeder, install the lines then bled the system of air. I bled it a second time later on having a friend pump the brakes...a better bleed method in my opinion.

PeteH - Yeah, I've got Motul 600 too. You only used 1 and 1/2 bottles? That's good to know.

zwindsor - thanks for the steps.

Sounds like it would only take like 20 minutes? Did you guys remove the wheels? I have to get a shop to do it cause I don't have a garage or jack stands, I live in a condo and just have a stall. It sounds pretty easy so I should be in and out real quick. Thanks for your answers guys!

20 minutes.... maybe. Less than an hour... certainly.

I removed the wheels.... even on a lift I don't think you can reach the connection where the flex line connects to the hard line, plus you need to maneuver the wrenches and the wheel will get in the way.

You can only use the same lines if they are long enough for the wheels to turn. You don't wont to turn the wheel fully right or left and it pull the brake line out of your caliper.
