Default Stainless Steel Brake Lines — Rubbing

I put on stainless front lines (from Z1 Motorsports) with a friend of mine who is much, much more mechanically inclined than me. We turned the wheels, etc. and didn't foresee any rubbing until we put the wheels on.

At first I thought it was rubbing against suspension, so I put some extra hose around the brake line just to offer more protection and so I could hear if it rubbed again. After this I realized (as I should have from the beginning) it was rubbing against the inside of the wheel.

Can this line be mounted on the opposite side of the vertical suspension component where it's held on? (as in, on the backside, closer to the spring and strut)

Seems like that would make more sense and eliminate the risk.

NOTE: I should be clear, the part I circled in the photo is where it attaches. i was wondering if it would screw in on the opposite side. It isn't rubbing on the part I circled.

Awesome, thanks! Will that bolt screw in from the other side? What do you mean by tweaking?

Most brake lines run on the other side of the spindle, and the single mount on them gets bolted to the strut.

To go through the back you would have to disconnect the line and do a rebleed again...

those lines are mounted with a banjo bolt and mount 90 degrees off the back of the brembo...so its hard to go behind the spindle due to that....

Acidjake showed me that mounting it to that point you have but pitching the line UP the spindle and zip tieing it to the hole in the spindle works great.

that hole btw was an original design to have the brake lines run through but was later unused by nissan...

Jason — huge thanks! Great idea

Is this what you mean?

Also, cool fact about the reason for that hole being there!

yes, ive done it that way and ive done it upwards too!

I may also say that you may want to add a spacer and use a longer bolt...ive found that to help it make the 180 degree turn around the spindle...

Like shown here:

it really helps the ss line make the 180 degree turn back around the front spindle.

Bolt is M8x1.25 - length dependant of spacer used.

You may not need the spacer as you have the line wrapped already anyways...just FYI...

This worked perfectly! I am much more confident with this setup because the lines have a huge safe distance from the rim all around. Thanks!!
