Default Brake Pads for brembos?

hey guys

so my Z has been making some grinding noises lately, and I'm assuming its my Brake pads against the rotors. my brake pad on the front-right wheel is almost completely out, and i figured its time i should replace them.

i have 2003 track edition Z, so i have brembo brakes. I'm assuming i might need more than standard brake pads. i tried searching threads on brake pads on google, but couldn't find much. just wondering what you guys use, and what y'all prefer. thanks a lot

There are literally tons of options. All depends on what you want/don't want out of a set of pads, and what you're budget and intended useage is

If you're tracking the car, then there are multiple pads that would serve you well. If it's just a street car, there are pads dedicated for that as well

Get some regular replacement pads. If you let it go to the point of grinding the rotor, probably need to replace them as well. The Brembo rotors usually wear down pretty badly anyway, I wouldn't advise having them cut unless they are almost new.

I used Raybestos PG pads to replace the stocks when they started cracking and they served me well as a daily driver street pad. I'm using a Hawk HPS setup now but that isn't needed for street, you can use thier more mild pads.

HAWK HPS

I got HAWK HP- Track pads; they are noisy and need cleaning and greasing the caliber often to stay quite but whoever drives the car just gets blown away by the stopping power. I did upgrade my Rotors as well

If daily driven and not into agressive driving then most any company that sells pads can provide you with something that will fit whatever you want to spend. When I had my 03 track I rode on EBC reds and bumped up to yellows for more agressive driving. These have a really simple bed in process. They also stop well enough cold or hot (yellows)

Hey OP, check out Z1's upgrade kit for the brembo setup. I just installed it. Comes with slotted/drilled rotors, ss lines, fluid of choice, and pad of choice. I went with the axxis ultimate option they offer. Bedded them in yesterday and feels awesome. Great DD upgrade over the factory brembo setup. Worth the $. Happy braking

I got the same set up with the Hawk HPS pads and I dd my G and it's perfect, minimal dust, noise, and in the last 10K I don't really notice any extreme wear like the stock pads (30K...lol) Also, she stops fantastic.

thanks for the help guys. a lot of recommendation for the hawks. I'm gonna do a little bit of more research and decide. theres nothing wrong with my rotors or anything, just my pads are almost done. i didn't notice it until goodyear told me about it. i really don't want to spend more than 150$, but want to have a piece of mind when choosing the right one lol.

The grinding noise is the wear clip against the rotor. The clip will will strike the rotor when the pad reaches 2 mm. Not sure what you mean by standard pads but there is a wide variety of recommendations here. Read and learn.

I have a set of Stoptech Street Performance pads in my OEM Brembo's. Pretty happy with them so far. Little bit of dust, much much less than OEM Brembo pads. Firm braking feel and zero noise. Can be had for $120 or so online for a full set. Check ebay.

Yep those are the ones. Just make sure you get the proper ones for the Z. (For whatever reason I didn't see 350z or G35 referenced anywhere within that ebay listing)

Agreed, great pads for the money. I use them for daily driving and they have handled 3 track days so far as well with no problems (combined with Castrol SRF fluid and Stop Tech SS lines).
