Cool No Brake Pressure After SS line Upgrade??!

What's up?

I have a 2004 350z without Brembo's. The time came to change my rear pads, so I went above and beyond: I painted my calipers, changed the bleeder screws, changed my brake hardware, got new Hawk HPS pads, and upgraded my lines to the stop-tech SS lines.

In the process I let my system get completely dry! I wish I could say it was cause I like a challenge, but no. I got everything bolted everything up found no issue really and began to bleed my lines.

Initially, I tried a traditional 2 person method without bleeding my MC. It was a waste of time with a result of no pressure ever on or off!

Then, I went out and bought myself a master cylinder bleeding kit from a local auto store. Unfortunately it only had 1 nipple that fit the furthest-most hold on the MC from the firewall. I still tried to just bleed half the lines. In result, I had some firm braking power with the car off if I pumped it, and the pedal DIDNT sink. However with it turned on I got nothing! sinks right to the floor, and I must pump to stop.

Lastly, I bought a pneumatic bleeding system from Harbor Freight that seemed to work pretty well. I didn't see any bubbles in the MC, and with the car off I had a very firm pedal. I thought for sure my troubles were over! nope!

I tried bleeding it again, and again, and again, check all my banjo fittings, then bled again (with some pedal stomping), and again, and again. Before I gave up and took it to a local dealer...

I did this because, I assumed the ABS pump was trapping air and screwing me over.

There I instructed them to bleed the ENTIRE system MC back and use a scanner tool on the abs while bleeding it.

They gave up, but also didn't follow my instructions. They didn't use a pneumatic bleeder and didn't bleed the MC. They had the nerve to try and charge me over $300 still from an original $100 bill.

So whats going on?

My pedal is very firm off and only takes maybe a pump or 2 to get very firm, and it doesn't sink. However, when it's on it sinks right to the floor! I have to pump it for any brake power. The dealer "assured" me the MC was bad, but they didn't even take it off, nor did they test it any other way. What are the odds of a Master Cylinder failing simultaneously when I upgraded my brake hardware?

One plausibility is that the seals got folded over inside the MC from all of my pumping, but I doubt it. Another is that the dealer lied and didn't bleed my car at all in an attempt to charge me nearly 1k to get a new MC installed. Could my brake booster have failed?

Could be booster , but ..... Get a Motive bleeder. The best part in the motive is that it pressurized the master , when you add pressure you can see how much the fluid level drops. The more it drops, the more air you have in the system. It is a PITA to get the air out even with a motive, it takes time , especially with a clean system.

Ok, I'm ordered a Motive 107. I'll let you know in a week if it works. Hopefully I'll get it fixed in time for Thanksgiving!

Thank Dylan for OP Thanksgiving post, can't believe it's that popular.
